Here's the website to a breeder in Austin. http://www.texpup.com/ I don't know if they have any puppies available right now, but I'm sure you can send them an e-mail or give them a call.

Why don't you go look at the animal shelter for a dog?
That way you would know immediately how the temperament is and how it interacts with you.
You would also have plenty of money left over to buy cute toys and good food for the dog.
Yes Shipping will cost a lot because you are shipping a live animal.

Poms are great! We were lucky and found a lost Pom, Samsun.
I suggest going to maybe an animal shelter in your area and seeking out a Pom there. If your hometown newspaper isn't too costly in the classified section run an ad looking for one.
Our niece (who comes from a VERY wealthy family) found her's on ebay. Shipping cost was the airline ticket for the dog. Don't go this route..you never know what you might end up with.
Good luck and let me warn you that Pom's are very personel. If they are upset with you (like leaving them for a long period of time) they will let you know. usually by tipping over their food and/or water dish, pottying on your bed or tearing something up. They just want love though. Good dogs.

if you only have $450 dollars that may pay for a pom but not for shipping as it cost about $250. The dog alone will cost all the money you have. Now what about the food, supplies and vet bills which can cost you well over $300 for the first year???
Also yo need to see if you need to have a dog quarantined coming from Mexico

Check the animal shelters first. My mom got a toy pom several years ago at the pound. She got her for a $25 adoption fee, and she was a great dog. If you don't find one at a shelter, find a reputable breeder. It is always better to go and pick the dog out yourself, and take it home in your own (in your case, your parents') car.

Go to livedeal.com they usually have pets for sale. And try your hardest not to ship. When you ship, it stresses out the animal, and since its a small dog you dont want to pick up a puppy that died of a heart-attack on the plane. Also check your local classified ads. Good luck.

don't ship a dog, go to the pet store or animal shelter or try a website listing of dogs in your area and go to pick it up
