Excuse but...it's Revelation no "s".....*smile*.

I think a cursory understanding is a good idea. It's a heavily symbolic book. But there is a great study book/commentary called "What the World is Coming To", by Pastor Chuck Smith. I re-read it from time to time.

I think Christians need even a basic understanding of the book of Revelation. It has been so misused and inaccurately taught, that people have all kinds of just plain bad ideas. I have a book called "More than Conquerors" that is a good one on Revelation.

I'd rather that every Christian have a strong understanding of the gospels. I am surprised at how many "believers" know very little about the teachings of Jesus. There is more to being a Christian than going to church on Sunday.

Yes I do,but all others should also study Revelation very carefully so as to understand what is happening during this period in time. It may very well be the one thing that saves them.

Yes, if they are interested. No, if they are not.

The opening chapter of Revelation indicates that we should be happy to consider it. And God wants us to be happy.

"Happy is he who reads aloud and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and who observe the things written in it; for the appointed time is near." Revelation 1:3

Revelations is so subjective there is no way that anyone can have a strong understanding of it. It is open to interpretation.

Every Christian should know the Word of God in it's entirety.
Many churches do not teach Revelation and I think it is absolutely essential , that we know all of God's Word.

Not any more than the rest of the Bible. Revelation is something no one, Christian or not, will fully understand until the time is right.

" Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand". Revelation 1:3

A special promise to the one who reads and hears this book.

Jesus said: Know the truth and the truth will set you free...I believe that this can be applied to all of God's truth, including the understanding of the mysterious book of Revelation....We have access to multitudes of commentaries on this book which is filled with symbolism and chances are we are not going to understand everything perfectly......but i will continue to keep reading it...........
