Hierarchy of values...
Usually it's important to be honest, but a few things might trump that.
Would you tell the Nazis where the Jews were hiding or would you *gasp*, lie?

(Oh, and the right answer to "does my bum look big in this" is:
"Phwoooar! Not 'Arf!")

I think it's very important to be honest why should you try to lie to people when lies are so complex and can take control over everything in your life. However sometimes they are necessary to spare someones "that you care very much about" feelings. I believe you should be as honest as possible.

Why? Honesty is a value that each individual holds separately. I've known plenty of christians that lie and cheat. Being an atheist really holds no bearing on whether a person is honest or not. I have high morals and high standards because I want to be a good person. Not because of my religious beliefs. People choose to be honest and what type of person they want to be.

It is very important to be honest. But that doesn't mean you have to voice your opinions. If you're the small fish in the sea you don't ask if everyone is hungry.

Atheists generally believe that it is of the utmost importance to keep things in perspective and logical. If it's blatantly a lie, many atheists (not all; there are dumb atheists) reject the notion.

It depends on the situation. If I was harbouring a Jew from the Nazis I wouldn't think it important at all - quite the opposite, in fact.

That depends entirely on the situation. In some cases, it's better NOT to be honest.

I live by honesty, except under one condition: the consequences of the honesty are unfair and out of my control. Imagine a child that breaks a plate by accident and is beaten by his father. That is not right. If he can get away with lying, he should.

However, I don't play along with the "don't ever tell a woman she looks fat" nonsense.
