The word disease literally means "lack of ease."
It has nothing to do with there being a cure or not.
You can "catch" a cold and have very light symptoms because your body fights it off quickly. Other people might have lingering symptoms. During that period of time, the person is "diseased" with a "sickness."
I'm amazed at how many people seemed to ignore what you actually asked and just gave you the definition of "the cold" as being a virus.

it is an infection. and the so called "common" cold, is usually caused by a different virus every time, when you have a cold you develop immunity to that particular virus.
There are some fifty known "rhino"viruses that cause cold symptoms, the more you catch a cold, the less you worry about catching them later in life, you are immune. To avoid catching and spreading colds now, however, the best thing to do is wash your hands. Seriously, that is how colds are spread, from hand to mouth. I carry hand sanitizer with me everywhere, and I use it almost hourly when I am in public areas, like grocery stores or shopping malls.

It's a virus and there's no cure for it because there are so many different strands of it. The best thing is to be well rested and eat balanced meals to avoid the common cold. Also wash your hands before you eat
