I think you have to know whether or not you are a Christian, whether or not you are saved. True Christianity is accepting we are sinful and humbling ourselves to God. Knowing that the sacrifice of Jesus was made out of love for us. Why would there be shame in that? We didn't earn salvation, we just accepted the gift.

The only true Christian is the one that obeys the teachings of the Bible and 'rejects' the teachings of man that go against the teachings of the Bible.
For example, in 1 Timothy 4:1-4, Paul warns Timothy that some men will come in and tell him (Timothy) to abstain from some foods, but in verse 3 "...which God created to be received with thanksgivings by those who believe and know the truth."
Respectfully.

It is really easy to tell a true Christian from a fake one:
True Christian: will follow the teachings of Christ for love, tolerance, understanding and peace. Will not judge other people and will be kind to all. Also a true Christian will fight the rights of others.
False Christians: Will continiously claim that they know this thing called "Jesus" and so they will be "saved" . They will be unable though to understand or to follow His teachings. Usually you can tell False Christians if they support the War Effort, the Gorverment's Torture Programs, if they Discriminate agaist our fellow people who are gay instead of protecting them, if they Discriminate against immigrant people from other nations instead of protecting them.
- Hope this helps

So, it offends you if I call myself a Christian because I believe in Jesus?
Man. Talk about touchy.
