Behold: change.
This is inevitable in a culture, especially ours. Many religions are just outdated at this point...
There is no such thing as certainty of God's existence. We lack proof, let alone evidence, of the supernatural, so some of us just like to deceive ourselves into thinking we know it all.
Religion often influences culture, but culture, which incorporates so many other things, can overcome religion. I hope it does.

What's wrong with that? We have to live in the same society until we get called home, why can't we enjoy things like DVD players and cell phones? Jesus didn't preach that we had to live a life of poverty. In fact, the only thing he said about it was that we should tithe. The funny thing is, people who describe themselves as religious give far more to charity than those that espouse no religion.

You are right in many ways, but do not assume ALL are the same. I HATE hypocrisy!!! I live the best I can as a Christian. YES I MESS UP, but I do not feel I have a licence to .
I try to evangelise as much as I can i point people to this test http://www.beginningingenesis.com/good/001.shtml
But I am in no wise a good Christian. But I know I and others try to be.
But it is funny because when one DOES live like a Christian people say, Oh what? You think you are better than me??" Just because I do not drink or curse constantly, or laugh at dirty jokes.... and funny that if I do they then say, " YOU ARE JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!!"
Oh well, that is why I do not live my life anymore to please people. I live to please God.
Take care

Not sure what you expect. You think that because you're a Christian you can't enjoy life?
Look at David and King Solomon.
What about Abraham?
Being rich doesn't mean you aren't a Christian and it's OK to love the Lord and have cash.

Actually, you wouldn't. Not to say some haven't, Mother Teresa died penniless devoting her entire life to God. Some of are placed on Earth in different roles, to be able to reach non-believers who might live in the neighborhoods where we buy our houses, or frequent the places we go to on vacation... the key is living your life for God, and following Him. We all to some degree fail to be all God wants us to because we are all somewhat selfish.

This has puzzled me for the longest time, and the only two answers I can come up with these:
a) that they believe Jesus died for their sins like a human sacrifice so they can sin all they want and get off free.
b) They think church is just social hour.
c)They have never read the Bible, and get it all from the minster they don't even listen to.

You are equating providing for one's family with not being devout?
A Christian doesn't have to live a life of poverty and desperation to be a follower of Jesus Christ. The bible tells us that God desires to give us good things.
That being said, my life is not about stuff. It's about Jesus Christ. God says to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all other things will be "added" to me. I do live that way, and He has provided for me.

But they waste their time in church and "praying" even tho it doesn't mean anything. That's really the only difference. Plenty of religious people do worse things than non-religious people. I don't like how they label people because they don't believe in a "god" that they must not have any morals.

Christians are still humans and still live on the same planer!! What are they supposed to do?
Just because they buy these things and do these things doesn't change their certainty, and why should it?
