How can I get a good cardio workout without using my legs? I have a really bad shin splint from playing tennis and I want to rest it as much as possible until it's completely healed. In the meantime, I'd like to still get some cardio workouts in? I thought of a rowing machine but my gym doesn't have any...

How about swimming? There are swim belts that will hold your torso over water. Then you can work out your arms. Usually, you can get a hold of water weights (which are not heavy). They work great also. Get in contact with a water aerobic instructor. They will be glad to help you out.

Our gym used to have a machine where you could sit and rotate two handles with just your arms.

If you don't have that, then ask your gym instructor if they have a good circuit training workout that uses only upper body workouts (maybe 1 minute light bench press, 30 second rest, 1 minute military press, 30 second rest, 1 minute curls, rest, 1 minute triceps extension, etc.).

I also like the punching bag idea from the guy above (assuming that you can at least stand on your injured leg for a long period of time without hurting it).

Do the punching bag. You will still have to stand, and shift weight and use shoulder, and waist movements, but overall, if you modify the typical heavy bag workout (without incorporating footwork into it) you still can get a really, really intense workout by just using your upper body. Its a really good aerobic and anaerobic workout with minimal use of your legs (prepare to sweat and get REAL exhausted!)

Sex, but obviously doggie is not an option for the knee problem? Is that how you hurt it in the first place? I don't know where you live but if you can get away from the boyfriend I could hook you up with my escort Darius. He's wonderful and can work that 10 pounds off of you in one or two sessions. Very reasonable too. EDIT: Does that lessen my chances for best answer?
