So, I've been a stepparent for 17 years, my daughter lived with me since she was 8 and visited her mother very seldomly. Her mother was not doing well and got into some trouble, I took care of her and I really grew to love her as my own, but all of the sudden, I am not considered a Mom to her, at her wedding she introduced me as her Dad's wife. REALLY HURT!

What did your step daughter call you for all those years?Try not to read too much into her introduction as it was probably done for clarity.Trust me she knows who was there for her all those years ,from wiping tears, comforting her ,guiding her and preparing her for life. You laughed together, cried together and grew together.Mom, be proud of your (step)daughter.Your have done a great job.

maybe she introduced you as that because she didnt want to confuse people and have questions asked on her wedding day, i am sure that she probably thinks of you as her mom, i dont know the whole story, but maybe her real mom was there and she didnt want to offend her, at the end of the day that is still her mother so that could be why. and if you are really hurt ask her why she introduced you as that, she might have a good reason.....good luck and i know its hard but forgive her. i am sure you are a wonderful mom

Did she roll her eyes while introducing you as her father's wife? If not, I would agree with the above comment.
