So I was reading Leviticus today and came across the Lev. 25:44 which state we may own slaves as long as they are from bordering nations. Now, does this include Cuba? They are very nearby and I feel I cannot buy my slaves cheap enough from Mexico or Canada. Also, if we occupy a foreign nation, are we able to enslave people bordering the nation we occupied?

Please help, I need to have a fence put in and don't want to have to pay people by the hour.

Read further and you will see that the Bible prohibits violence against any and all people, including slaves. It also says you have to give them food etc. So basically, they are like live-in servants. They didn't get paid, but they didn't have money then either, they just traded. It's not the evil kind of slavery that civil war was fought over. In those times, the slaves were treated extremely poorly. Very sad time in American history.

No, no, you can't have slaves, that was the OLD testament. But of course the ten commandments are in the old testament but they are still valid. Nothing like picking and choosing what you like and getting rid of what's not politically correct.

Joel,..... Ahhh so you have to be an Israeli?? Sorry Fatty, you have to move to Tel Aviv to get your maid. Too bad because you don't deal with the heat very well.

You are absolutely right, the Bible condones slavery. But stupid Christian fundamentalists don't like to talk about it. They prefer to talk about gays.

That was definitely for the Israelites and not for you. So don't try and confuse Christians about their religion.
