everybodys digestive system is different and someone might process food faster than others.

It depends on how much fibre you eat with the other food in your diet. If you don't have much in the way of fibre then 30 - 40grams (1oz - 1/8 of a cup) of straight (plain) bran should get you moving again. But best to build up your fibre use slowly or the results can be explosive!
And don't forget to drink plenty of water. It helps keep things flowing too.

everyone needs at least 25-30 grams each day...so anything more than that will keep your digestive system going. and don't forget to drink TONS of water if you are consuming alot of fiber, or else it will dry up like cement and have an adverse/opposite effect

I am sorry I don't count em. I just drink my Metamucil 3 times a day and it flows like mud in a river.

it depends on your body or what you eat,sometimes only a few grams is all you need.
