If you are getting back in touch with an old friend/ex should you tell your current partner? Even if he has nothing to worry about at all. Would you want to know about it or rather not hear about it? Obviously, there is nothing to hide and the only reason to keep it to myself is to avoid unnecessary drama. Do you talk about EVERYTHING with your partner or are there certain things better left unsaid?

I had a situation like this once. I was still in touch with my ex-boyfriend, who was a friend. He had a new girlfriend and my boyfriend had absolutely nothing to worry about. Even so, I didn't tell my new boyfriend about the ex communication. When my new boyfriend did find out he was pissed and suspicious. If I had told him before he would have probably been fine with it. I recommend trying to casually mention it in conversation if possible. If that doesn't work, you may have to tell him point blank, which will suck but will be better than the alternative.

In a perfect world as much disclosure as possible would give you the best chance of having a successful relationship and maintaining it as such, but we all know the world is far from perfect. Even without attempting to be deceptive we know there are some details that some people are just incapable of handling without putting themselves through lots of unnecessary worry and anxiety. In those cases maybe a bit of self-restraint is in their best interest, but whatever you choose must be weighed against the backdrop of the bigger picture: how are they likely to react if they discover the situation by some other means and you had not mentioned it? Suddenly an innocent omission seems like a sleazy attempt to deceive. So, judge this situation carefully. Danger doesn't always take the path you think it will.

From a mans p.o.v i have to ask what is sooo special about this "ex" that has you contemplating a lie and possibly ruining the foundation of all relationships...the trust i hope you currently have with your significant other ? One of you, you or the "ex" have less than honorable intentions and an ulterior motive. The whole "reunion" will be set in a behind his back, what he doesn't know atmosphere. Oooooh...sounds like fun. Do the right thing....i don't need to tell you what that is.....mark

True, somethings are better left unsaid, however, if you don't tell them and they eventually find out, they will think you didn't tell them because you had something to hide. Been there and done that.

You should be honest to your partner. One thing bugs me more than anything else: people not being honest. Nothing hurts me more than having a partner being dishonest.

Tell him, be hinest, but so sound so casual like your talking about the weather or what TV show is on at the moment.
Then, if he gets all dramatic, say, "You don't think,,,,? Oh my god! I can't beleive you don't trust me! After all this time!! I always trusted you, no matter one, now your giving me THIS?"
Good Luck!

If you have nothing to hide, be honest. Otherwise, it will look like you are up to something.
