it will probably lower, but not more than $100. this is because it costs sony around $800-900 to manufacture a ps3, then they sell it to u for $599. they lose every time they sell a counsel. Microsoft faces a similar problem, but they have a lower loss.

Ah the main question surrounding the playstation 3 at this time. Well my answer is: Yes...eventually. Sony executives have discussed "refining" the price of the PS3 and also have stated that they would have an answer most definately by this holiday season. Right now I would wait until E3 to see if they announce anything (thats July 10-13). If not then rumors say that by October we will see Sony introduce a "cheaper chip" into the Playstation 3 which will slash the price by either $100 or maybe even $200 (which would lower it to the price of a Xbox 360). Besides when Sony does announce a price drop...there will probably be another HUGE rush to buy them just like Nov. 17th of last year. Like I said if you want one wait at least until E3 then make a decision. :)

Yes, but not soon, coz Sony loses 250 dollars on each console. First, Sony has to come out with cheaper lasers for Blu-Ray, and cheaper Cell processors. After that Sony will drop the price. Sony alreade stopped to sell cheaper 20 Gb version due to the losses. And there is a rumor, that in Indonesia (or another Far Eastern country) Sony sells 80 Gb version for more money. The only difference - bigger HDD (By the way - you can install one by yourself).
Sony has to return their losses before they can drop the price. That won't be soon.

it will lower its price this xmas season, so its not a question of when btu a question of how much lower, which will probly be atleast $50, perhaps even a full $100 cheaper

of course, PC advance everyday while other platforms stand still. in 2 years, PC will take over all other platforms(i mean all the platforms today, not the future platforms). so it gotta drop.
