well, technically it's never too young (as long as it's legal) but there's no way to be sure, i'd say under 24 stands a very high chance of it not lasting (i heard that the average marriage of people under 24 is like 4-7 years at best) but my honest opinion is like 26, for a good cahnce for the marriage to last and work out and what not....young enough to still be fun and have fun but old enough to make a conscious decision...

It's not really an age limit so much as a "stage" limit. Some people may be mature enough and really truly ready to be married at 18, in which case engagement anytime before that. Some people may not be ready til they're 25. It's not like some people seem to believe and "under 23 is too young" or something...you don't magically become "ready" the second you turn 23 or something.

I think it's best to wait til you're mid-twenties - because by then, you have your head straight on your shoulders, are mature enough, have your schooling done and your career started - so you can make a mature decision, and be bringing your best self to a marriage. The guy you may be thinking about marrying at 19 will NOT be the one you would want to marry when you are 24! One just changes too much during her 20s.

Anything under 18 is entirely too young... but I think even anything before your mid-twenties is pushing it. If you are young, have an extra long engagement to be sure.

IMO anyone under 16.
If anyone under 18 gets engaged, they should not get married until they are both at least 18, better yet, 20 or out of high school and college.

I think it depends on the maturity level of the people involved, as much as it does age. Both people need to be financially independent. Ideally, it would be after college, so that both people have had a chance to do the fun party thing if they want, and both have degrees and hopefully good jobs (since finances are such a huge part of marital stress).

Well Im 20 and i am getting married this september. I dont think it should matter how old u are and just because people are young when they get married doesnt mean they wont last. my sister has been married since she was 18 and she is now 38. it depends from person to person

Personally I don't care if people decide to get engaged at 12. People seem to forget that engagments can be as long as you want and are not legally binding and easily broken.
For marriage though I think you should be at least 22 and fully able to support yourselves without anybody else's help. Marriage is an adult decision so you should be able to act like an adult.

Get engaged as early as you like, but wait to get married. My engagement will be nearly 2 and a half years long by the time I get married.
