I do not think I could pick a favorite verse of scripture. There are so many passages that I would have a hard time narrowing it down. I have many favorites, and that list expands regularly. Some of my favorite Prophets are people like Nephi in the Book of Mormon (he wrote 1st and 2nd Nephi), Isiah, and Ezekiel.
Nephi is one of my favorite prophets because I relate to him so well.
Isiah, because I am actually starting to understand him.
Ezekiel, because I think he must have been an extremely cool guy to hang around.
There are others but those are the current big ones. Christ is always at the top of my favorites list.

I love this verse:

1 Tim. 6: 10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

I think of this every time I see a Mormon Temple. I also think of this and wonder why most of the high-ups in the church are very affluent in their community.

Re: The Book of Mormon: "This book must be either true or false. If true, it is one of the most important messages ever sent from God... If false, it is one of the most cunning, wicked, bold, deep-laid impositions ever palmed upon the world, calculated to deceive and ruin millions."
Orson Pratt Delivering a sermon of 'Opinion' in England 1851

Of course the latter case has undeniably occurred, so when to the temples get dismantled?

"...their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and a delightsome people."

2nd Nephi 30:6

Ether 1, p. 546 … and for this cause did King Benjamin keep them …

Ether 4:1 … and for this cause did King Mosiah keep them …

I like Ether Just because King Benjanim was supposed to be dead yet some how was alive, so they later had to change it King Mosiah.

Alma 24:10 And I also thank my God, yea, my great God, that he hath granted unto us that we might repent of these things, and also that he hath forgiven us of those our many sins and murders which we have committed, and taken away the guilt from our hearts, through the merits of his Son.

One of my favorite passages of scripture is section 1 of the Doctrine and Covenants. There is such power in them.

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.
