Normally I would say that is a male, but....with the white mutation the cere color does not always hold true. How old is the bird?

Okay to me it looks like a girl but that could just be the picture quality or my eyes. But here's how to tell. When a parakeet is about 6 months old the cere (the area where the nostrils are) will turn either blue for boys or tannish pink sometimes more brown for females. Also when a female is near breeding condition the cere will usually turn crusty and darker brown. Or you can alwasy take him/her into a vet or pet store and the experts will be able to tell you. It looks like a male to me. Do you see the cere, or waxy stuff around his nose? The males have a blue cere that is smooth and shiny. The Females' have a white, pink, or brown colour that is dull and crusty looking. because the bird is white, in the picture it is hard to tell if the bird id mature or not. if his eyes have dull grey irises, he has not completely matured, and I would say that is is definately a male. If the irises are totaly white, then it has matured and it may be a female, but I am 90% sure that its a male. Hope that helped! ~me~

You have a male. The skin above the beak on males is blue, and females have a tan color.

Looks like a female. Also remember. Females-brown,tan, pink nose.Males-blue,purple nose
