turbotax does not allow me to file for past years.

You can purchase prior year software to prepare your returns for previous years, but you need to print out the returns and mail them in with your W2,1099's for each year as only the current year can be electronically filed.

Yes, TurboTax and TaxCut both allow you to file for past years, but you need the program for the year which you wish to file.

Both software companies provide links to download past years' programs on their websites.

You'd need the TurboTax version from the year you are trying to file. You won't be able to efile a past year return, you'll have to print it and mail it in.

turbotax 2007 allows you to file for 2007. turbotax 2006 will allow you to file for 2006. turbotax 2005 will allow you to file for 2005. luckily for you, these obsolete programs are dirct cheap at thrift shops and on ebay, for like a dollar a disk. good luck.

if you're expecting a return, you must file within 3 years.

Sure they do! You just have to buy the software for the year in question. You can download it from their website. The only difference with prior years is that you MUST file a paper return; you can't e-file prior years' returns.

You may be able to find older versions on EBay. You will need a copy for each year that you need to file.

there is no free software for what you request you best find the nearest VITA office to get your taxes prepared free
