She is being hired for a new job and they are doing a background check (at a healthcare facility). I thought maybe it might show up and told her not to give her notice here until she is cleared. She actually did not know that her license had been suspended until her insurance company found it during a random study. Is a suspension a felony or a crime or what is the technical term? Is it serious like a drug conviction? I think that hospitals only search for felonies, not traffic violations, but I wasn't sure where a 'suspension' fell....
She is not suspended now.
The state is West Virginia.

Sorry:
The insurance company found the suspension, they did not suspend her. I apologize for being unclear.
Great help so far, thank you all very much!

An insurance company has no authority to suspend your license with out prior notice and a very good reason. If her license was suspended for proper reasons she would have known in advance. Like being pulled over for a DUI one to many times, or getting to many traffic violations, As far as I know only a cop or a judge can suspend your license and not your insurance company.

in texas it is only against the law if you are caught driving on a suspended license. and it is a misdemeanor. (anywhere from a 'c' to an 'a' depending on previous convictions and how the counties are handling invalid license charges)
she has no convictions for driving with an invalid/suspended license. a great many people have invalid or suspended licenses and don't realize it. your license can be considered invalid if you have moved and not changed your address within the required time frame.
this is not a big deal. the health care profession is looking for any felony conviction or misdemeanor convictions like DWI/DUI, possession (of any kind of drug), theft, etc.
it is always a good idea to put the info on your application when you apply if you have any criminal history. BUT there is a reason they only ask for info on CONVICTIONS of 'a' or 'b' misdemeanors and felonies.
your friend will be fine, but it is a good idea to never quit a current job until you have been hired at a new job reguardless of your criminal history.

It's not a felony to have your license suspended due to lack of insurance, and unless her job is one that requires her to drive for the company, it won't even be an issue.
If her license is no longer suspended, she doesn't ever have to mention that it was suspended, unless she'd want to tell that story as a funny anecdote.
Don't stress over it. She'll be fine. You're a good friend for your concern.

I doubt that a suspension for insurance problem wouldn't be a problem... But it's a good idea not to give notice until she is sure she clears the background check.
They are probably not concerned about her insurance problems. They be more concerned about any felonies...

There is nothing illegal about having a suspended license. Driving on a suspended license is a crime.
As for why she was suspended, no insurance is a class C misdemeanor here. Not really a big deal.

She should be fine. Normally this falls under misdemeanor traffic violation unless she was charged with some kind of fraud.
The only way it would interfere with her hiring at a healthcare facility is if in her job description she had to drive patients.

Usually the exact phrasing goes:"Have you been convicted of a crime other than a traffic violation"? Things like that are misdemeanor at worst.

a license suspension is certainly not a felony. it is a minor traffic violation, and should not affect her chances of employment in a background check.

She needs to wait, you never really know .. some helathcare places are more strict than others. Depends on the exact position, etc .. but I definitly wait till she is cleared. It is not as serious as other stuff, but some jobs require a valid DL... she needs to go get a state ID in the least...kr
Good Luck!
