Try drinking ice cold water with a few drops of squeezed lemon juice. Brew yourself a jar of sun tea (tea bags in a jar of water, set out in the sun), then add a little lemon. Homemade iced coffee is a real trip. Make homemade smoothies with real live honest to goodness fruit. Or juice carrots and celery. Drink a V-8. Lots of choices out there.

Try to stay away from sugary drinks, they are soda without the caffeine and carbonation.

Hey

The way I got myself to stop going crazily drinking soda was to go for flavored water. The Fruit-2-O stuff is really good, and I only have soda at dinner time. I'm a Pepsi person, so I enjoy sipping a reward for myself after a long day in the office.

Another way is to try sweet tea, really good tea from the South, but only sparingly with that too.

Realize though that it's not just soda that gets you to put on weight, you can still drink soda and do fine if eat right and go out and exercise.

Here's how I do it, and it may or may not work for you.

Balanced diet as much as possible, with water, flavored water, juice, milk or whatever.
Go out walking everyday, when finished working, between 30 and 40minutes, not a slow casual walk either, go at fairly good pace.
Have a soda or something you really like to reward yourself, but nothing more!

That's how it works for me, but it may not work the same for you. Lifestyle and diet are different for everyone, you have to try things until you find what works for you.

Hope this helps, and no I'm not pulling any weight loss spam.

Donate your soda money to the less fortunate. You will feel so much better. I do not like water either but my trainer told me that if I did not increase my water intake to about a gallon a day or more, I might not make my goal of running and completing an upcoming marathon in the time frame that I seek.
Go to the generic store that has the lowest prices and get a bottle of lemon juice and one of lime juice. Store in refrigerator. One bottle cap or to taste in a container of cold water; varies the taste. If you want to keep the weight down, water especially sips of ice water can aid you. Water fills you up prevents you from eating when you are really thirsty not hungry. Sips of ice water, are too cold for your body to use so your body has to expend energy to warm that water . Those who promote this concept say one must drink at least a gallon of ice water a day to have a noticeable affect.
Got stood up on a date recently, wrote out a check for $100 and mailed it to the local coalition for the homeless. Haven't had any negative feelings since.

Buy yourself a really, really nice water bottle as a treat. A stainless steel one is best. Sigg is a brand with lots of cute ones. That way, you'll want to use it all the time, and drink more water along the way. Also, it'll save you money on bottled water. And get a good water filter. You'll like water more.

Also, a good way is to make yourself angry about soda in some way. Concerned about human rights? Research the companies. An environmentalist? Research the effects of the ingredients on us. Health nut? Read up on high fructose corn syrup. It's amazing what a little anger can do.

I just started about a month ago trying to stop drinking soda and I am doing great. This is what you do, drink bottled water but buy crystal light to gos to add flavor, I like fruit punch (it's the best), lemonade, and tea. They also have ice raspberry and orange. They are only 10 calories per bottle of water and I have been completely successful. And I swear they are really good and full of flavor. Good luck!!

First, limit yourself to maybe one a day, then one a week. Try drinking something else (water would be great, but...), try VitaminWater, Crystal Light, juice, milk (chocolate or strawberry is great), water with lemon in it, iced tea, Snapple, Fuze, and other types of drinks. If you rely on the soda for the caffeine, don't stop cold turkey if you don't have another source of it such as coffee because you will get the much dreaded caffeine headache. Good luck!

I used to be the same way, I always chose soda. Eventually, I started trying other drinks. I don't really like water either. Recently, I tried Vitamin Water. There are so many different flavors, and they all taste great! On top of that, they are full of vitamins that are good for you. Life Water is just the same.

To get yourself to stop drinking soda, stop slowly. Drink less each week, and drink more Vitamin Water and other drinks.

One thing you do have to be careful of is drinks that appear to be good, but are really worse than soda. Before buying a drink, check to see if it has HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP in it. This is really bad for you, it cloggs your veins and arteries. Another thing to watch out for is SUCRALOSE (Splenda). It is actually worse for you than sugar. Many flavored waters have Splenda in them, such as Propel and Aquafina's flavored waters.

I bought this stuff, called Talking Rain Ice. I got a case at Costco. It's a juice, but it's mostly water, and it is carbonated. It has way less sugar than and calories than a regular soda, and has lots of Vitamin C. When I really crave a soda, I have one of those, since it's sweet and carbonated. They have only 5 calories, and 0g of fat, 1g carbs. Maybe try something like that to replace it, and cut back at first!

I've been on a soda diet for six months to date and I stopped cold turkey. Instead, I drink juice and water.

this is what someone I know did - he convinced himself that pop tasted bad - so now he won't event touch it. He just started telling himself - yuck - I don't want it because it tastes bad. It does work - I tried it, but now I think it doesn't taste as good, but I still drink it because I have convinced myself I need the caffine to fight off my constant tiredness. The mind can do wonderous things!! Good luck!!
Oh yea - depending on how much you drink - have motrin handy for the headaches soon to follow if you quit all together - if you wean off, it shouldn't be so bad and the headaches don't last very long.
