Better to adopt, even if you have to wait a while. Its the right thing to do.

Poms are adorable. My friend has one she named Cujo! Too cute. Like many little dogs, they will try to rule the roost. It will be up to you to take charge from the beginning.

While you wait for your baby to arrive, read up on dog care and training, and read all you can find that is breed-specific to Poms. Attend some dog shows if you can, too.

I hope you find just the right pup.

I would recommend a rescue in your situation. Cheap breeders may have more health problems in their lines because they are just out to make a buck rather than breeding quality healthy animals. You should get one from the best breeder around, vet checked, good reputation, etc. A pup will need a series of vaccines, spaying or neutering, heartworm prevention, toys, grooming supplies, yearly check ups. They are sweet dogs, very loyal. They can have bad knees (another reason to go to a good breeder) which can be a problem. Also, they are tiny when pups and broken legs are common. Always have your new pup checked by a vet right away. DO NOT order one from the internet....you never know how it was raised or what health it will be in. Could be a nightmare! Be patient and wait for a good pup to come along...there is no rush and then you won't be sorry! Good luck!

Do you have permission from your parents to get a dog?

Nextdaypets is not a good place to get dogs (backyard breeders galore). Check the Pomeranian Club of America for a listing of good breeders and rescue refer, or Petfinder.org.

Why not wait for the local breeder to have puppies? You can get your name on a waiting list and get the color and sex you want. Getting a dog fast is not always the best way, you can still get a sick dog. If you go with the local breeders you will know the parents of the dog and how they act 1st hand not just by what you are told.

First off, do your research on the breed before purchasing the dog. Second off, you need to find a reputable breeder, you need to ask questions and references. you also need to realize now is not the time to have a dog shipped because its too hot outside, and its very hard on the dog for flying as it is, but now that its been soo hot, its WORSE. Realize breeders feel the same way you do as far as, you think its a scam to send the money and shipping before getting the dog, but breeders feel the same way, why would they send you a dog with no money in their hands either? you need to research .. research.. research Both breed and breeder before you make your decision.. also, you need to have your parents talk to the breeders also to make sure they are comfortable too

Try looking on petfinder.com. They have baby pomeranians in TX. And if you get one from there, you'd be rescuing your new puppy! I'm sure most rescues don't charge over $500, so you'd have some money left over to buy new stuff for your Pom. Good luck!

DO NOT BUY A DOG OVER THE INTERNET. You should SEE the dog that you're wanting to adopt. See its parents. See the environment in which it was raised.

A dog is a lifetime commitment, not an impulse purchase.

If you're 13, talk to your parents about getting a dog and asking them to help you find a RESPONSIBLE breeder.

Or go to http://www.petfinder.com and look for Poms near you. Save a life - adopt from rescue.

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes. I have a 7year old Pom...Babes. he is extremely adorable but has a very bad temper; he also is very possessive over toys, food ,people you name it!! i love him; must people would've put him down. I've talked to other Pom owners...they said their dogs had similar issues. I'm not saying yours will but it a possibility. make sure that you will love your dog no matter what!!! Poms are a handful!!! Oh. he was also very expensive i I tink he was about $1200.00
