There is a cover to it that doesn't let you pull the bulb out.

How do you slide out the unit?

Under the hood look for where the headlamp enters the car you Will see a small lever with a locking tab.in a track. Depress the lock tab and push lever along track. Whole headlamp assembly will move forward out of the fender. Some times they stick a little and you need to gently pry them forward out of the fender. Pay attention to the two tracks the unit slides on when reinstalling lamp. Shove in until lever engages track again and slide lever under lock tab again. Sliding the lever will suck the unit in the last bit.

The whole headlight unit has to be slid out first.
