Your question has brought tears to my eyes for I have wondered the same for the longest. I never pray for myself because I feel like I do not deserve it.
You are not wrong for trying to accept it but you still need to talk to GOD for HE is all knowing anyways, You have to learn to accept what is wrong with you, let me say this..it is evil that is making you believe that the Lord is not here for you but he is .

Sweetie, there is help.
Have you considered that you might be clinically depressed? It's a real chemical imbalance in your head. It has to do with the serotonin levels. There is medicine you can take just like a diabetic takes medication.
Please talk to your family doctor. 44 isn't too old! You have a lot of potential happiness to gain if you just look into this as being a possibility.
After a death in my family I went through a very dark period. After trying one presciption medication and not seeing a lot of difference, I was amazed that a different medication made all the difference in my life. After a short time (6 months) on the medication, my chemical levels had steadied out and I haven't needed help since.
Best wishes to you.

Everyday what people go through is always both a blessing and a curse. Everyday people see things that seem harrowing are actually blessings cleverly cloaked. Its just a matter of how you look at it. You discovering that you have cancer is terrible; but at least you discovered it before it killed you. Its just a matter of being optimistic or pessimistic. Stay optimistic, God's blessings far outstrip his curses.

Memories this verse it will help you my brother
God burdens not any soul beyond its capacity. It shall have the reward it earns, and it shall get the punishment it incurs. Our Lord, do not punish us if we forget or fall into error, and our Lord, lay not on us a responsibility as Thou didst lay upon those before us. Our Lord, burden us not with what we have not the strength to bear; and efface our sins, and grant us forgiveness, and have mercy on us; Thou art our Master; so help us against the disbelieving people.

This is a dilemma we all have to work through, you are not alone.
Feelings come from knowledge or a lack of knowledge. Learning to love others with knowledge is what you need to do. I stress do.
There is a song called "Jesus loves me", it goes like this;
Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tell me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak but He is strong
Yes, Jesus loves me
You'll notice the first line is based on the knowledge that Jesus loves you. This knowledge comes from the word of God, the Bible.
We all have to learn to ween ourselves from feelings of a victim mentality and learn to love as Jesus loves. Jesus says "Give and it shall be given unto you with the measure you use, it shall be shaken and pressed down and poured into your lap." also, "Rivers of living water shall flow out of you."
I say to you in the name of Jesus to ignore those feelings you are having and begin to love with the best of your ability those around you who need to be loved to Jesus so that they can do the same.If you do this through your physical suffering you shall be greatly blessed by God for your faithfulness.

Sounds as if you are suffering from major depression. Please seek the help of a psychiatrist and let him perscribe some meds for you. God is still there and will continue to be there for you. And I will pray for you God Bless.

Your life is what you make it, and it's all about your outlook. If you have a negative outlook, that is what you'll get. Look on the bright side of life.
Also, you may have clinical depression. Talk to someone.
