Salary varies greatly depending on where you live, what type of facility you work for, etc., but average starting pay is $18 per hour according to a 2004 survey by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Only you can decide if that is enough to live on. Check salary.com or similar sites to get an idea of wages in your area (enter the term "radiologic technologist").
