The reason in my opinion is that the bible goes back even farther than Nostradamus and the language was totally different then. When it got translated into the well known King James version, a lot of things get missunderstood because what one thing meant for people in the time of Jesus and the time that it got translated could mean something entirely different today? The same thing goes for Nostradamus.

Rev. 16:13, 14: “I saw three unclean inspired expressions that looked like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon [Satan the Devil; Rev. 12:9] and out of the mouth of the wild beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. They are, in fact, expressions inspired by demons and perform signs, and they go forth to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.”
(Matthew 24:20-22) . . .; 21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.
You should read the bible worst than the world had ever seen? All flesh would die only a nuclear bomb could do that.

Give me a minute...I'm getting over my hysterical laughter here...
You say, you think Nostradamus is "more understandable"? Then why, oh why, can't the people who understand him so well tell us when the next world war will be? Or where the next natural disaster will hit? Surely, since he has predicted so many past events so well (Hister, for instance, just springs to mind), his followers ought to be able to tell us whether or not to invest in beach front property along the fault line in California? Or where the next suicide bomber will detonate?
NO????
If not, why not?
Jesus did, indeed, make predictions...for instance, He predicted the fall of Jerusalem. He wasn't vague about it, either...He told 'em straight up..."there won't be one stone left standing upon another"..."your house will be left to you desolate".
Does He have anything for us today?
*grins*
I'm not the one to give away the plot. You'll just have to read it for yourself.
I'd suggest Matthew 24, for some interesting reading....

Your First mistake was to compare Jesus and Nostradamus.
Jesus wasn't put on earth to predict anything... He was here to save it and guide Gods people.
Nostradamus made almost all his predictions towards the end of his life... And they were made to help guide people away from mistakes...
Jesus Preformed miracles all his life...
Nostradamus made predictions the last 12 of his life...

Well Jesus' purpose for coming to earth was not to predict future. He does tell us what will happen as far as end of the world is concerned though.
Nostradamus' claims are considered very vague and coincidental by many a lot of people though. Also whatever he predicts may not be essential to people's survival in this world full of evil.

If he knew Nostradamus was going to write about the future, why would he want to upstage him? Anyway he had other things to deal with, like how people live now, rather than their future.

Nostradamus isn't exactly a news reporter, bro.
Nothing much of what he says is clearer than mud.
Jesus left us with many views of HOW to live to secure our future. And Revelation explains a LOT of specifics concerning our future.

there is not one thing nostradamus prdicted correctly. not one!!! the revelations of the Christ are coming to as time goes by. The biggest ones yet to come. read scripture and much of it is quite direct. no mysteries as to what people should do and how they should do it.

He did tell us the way to the Father...
He did tell us the way, the truth and the life...
He did tell us he was the LIGHT OF THE WORLD...
Put these together and you might find a clue to the Jesus christ Code....how to open the gate to Eden...

Nostraduamus predictions are more understandable? Then where were they on September 10, considering he predicted 9/11, or in Germany when Hitler came to power?
