I am a cross country runner, run long distance in track. I like to do these sports, but always am lazy about practice, getting up and running, and having a bad attitude about practice. I have tried so hard to have a good attitude and try hard, but I just keep going back to the way I was...anyone else have this problem, and if so how did u come over it?

I ran track years ago and loved it as well. I too hated the practices. I found that if you had to practice on your own that it was better to do it with a freind that runs as well, do it when it's cooler out (evening) and try to pick a route where you can obtain fluids easily especially if it's hot out. If you find this hard to do then maybe it's the long distance part of the running that you don't like and maybe you should think about running shorter distances in races. I loved running but didn't care for the long didstance part untill I mastered the pacing wich enabled me to run long distances without losing my wind. Allways make sure you stretch and warm up as well before you run as well. If you make that part of your routine to do that for 20 minutes before you run while listening to your favourite music that pumps you up and energizes you...that might help as well. Even listening to your favourite music while you run and think about life or try and solve life's problems in your head might help you want to practice more as well. You'll feel better about life and things in general once you master life in your head or work out problems while you work out , Then you'll welcome working out because you'll feel it's more theraputic.
Hope these tips help. Good luck!

No one likes to practice. The hardest step you take is the step out the door.

Set a deadline for a workout, prepare for it, and then get out the door quickly. By the time you are running, you'll forget that it's tough. The miles go by faster that way.

So you see, you are not alone.

Yeah, I had a problem a bit like this, as I think many people do. The trick is to think about how much you can improve at practice, and see how you really want to do well during competition.

oh man you too. I have tried everything but the hardest part is going outsude. As soon as you start running it will go by fast and it will seem as if you want to do it again. All you have to do is go outside and start jogging and then you will feel it. Remember you must have love for the sport.
