there was a gatso on the opposite side of the road to me and lines on all four lanes, but it flashed when i was going towards it, along with another car so there were 2 flashes.

i thought that gatsos worked when you go away from them and not towards them? any answers to my question much appreciated. thanks!

Usually not, but they are introducing some that can snap you both ways. It usually flashes twice for one car, so if there were 2 cars in the lines there is a chance I guess that neither of you will get caught.

Some police forces have a safety camera department where you can phone and give your registration number and they will tell you if there is a fixed penalty winging its' way to you.

doesn't stop you getting the 3 points but it put me out of my misery rather than waiting weeks for it to come through the post.

Yes, a single camera location can cover all of a road. If it was a true Gatso it would only take your picture after you had passed it. Others eg Truvelo take the front of the car. If the box is angled across the road to the opposite lane the speed reading must be corrected. Unfortunately this works against you if done properly as an angled radar records a speed lower than the true speed of the target

There must have been someone speeding going the other way. If you were going over the lines on the road at the time, and speeding, they've got a picture proving you were speeding - so you *could* get a summons.

Depends where it's pointed. But your best weapon comes as standard in the car as that funny dial that tells you how fast you are going.

it won't have got you though- it will have got the person on the other side, you just triggered it with your speed close by but wrong side.
