In the bible, it says "Of their flesh (of the swine) shall ye not eat, and their carcase ye shall not touch; they are unclean to you" LEVITICUS 11:8 - I've heard some people say "oh no - in the New Testament, Jesus says "it's not what you eat that makes you unclean...."

They shouldn't; it is not a sin unto death, but a sin to the health of the body; and any folks who answer you by saying that the Old Testament is done and over with since the crucifiction is terribly in error: only the blood ordiances have been done away with - nothing else. The law and the statutes still stand firmly.
The plain truth is that a pig is a scavenger. Pigs are here to clean up the garbage on the Earth. If you throw a dead body in a pigpen, the pigs will devour it - hair, bones, all of it.
Pigs do NOT HAVE SWEAT GLANDS. This means that every single inkling of bacteria that a pig picks up during its
lifetime, remains within the fat of the pig - along with any growth of said bacteria. Pork is very unhealthy for the human
body, because it was not an animal created for human consumption. These bodies have not changed since the
writing of leviticus, and what will make you sick then will still make you sick today. In fact, when a family member was diagnosed with cancer, the very first thing the doctor did was take them OFF OF PORK, COMPLETELY.

God created these bodies, and God knows what is and what is not good for them. Some religions - even many Christian denominations - eat pork, and they even have huge pork roasts at their church - its a blarring insult to Gods Word, but
yet they do it.

This is a very, very small example - but nevertheless an example - of the many things that God is very unhappy about when it comes to alot of churches.
"they profess me with their mouths, but their hearts are far from me".

Hi!

The Levitical food laws that the Jewish people adhere to applied to early Christians. However, there was a great debate in the early church as to whether God who had made all was for everyone or only for the Jewish people. There are numerous accounts in the New Testament about the debate over circumcision (IE: could gentiles be admitted to the faith if they were uncircumcised as Jewish custom demanded). A key shift occurred when Peter had the dream that is outlined in Acts chapter 10 just before being summonsed to the house of Cornelius, a devout Roman.

Hope this helps.

Good Wishes.

Over the past 80 or so years, new regulations were added on how pigs would raised and how pork is cooked. There were terrible threats to the swine population prior about trichinosis, which is a type of parasite which live in pigs and cause horrible consequences to humans if they eat under cooked pork. The religions which forbade the eating of pork were extremely wise and the christian communities shunned them, especially the Jewish peoples, which is just plain ignorant. Many years ago, I contemplated converting to Judaism but pork and pork products are very delicious and I really can't give up pork.

Pigs at the instant are not grimy animals. Pigs are animals that are oftentimes stored in grimy circumstances. Wild boar isn't any dirtier than farm animals or goats. you're incorrect approximately Hindus and Buddhists: Hindus do not devour cows, yet devour different meat (in the event that they might have the money for it). Buddhists devour meat. Jews had a prohibition approximately ingesting beef, which became into observed into Islam too. in the previous they might have been stunning - there are a number of illnesses which could bypass from pigs to people, alongside with tapeworm. that doesn't word from now on. modern-day farming has broken the cycle the place human waste (sh*t) finally ends up in the pigs' food.

I agree with Matt, that law was in the Old testament and by the time the new testament was written they had changed their views on some of the "old customs". Religions constantly change and update their thinking, even nowadays they do, like when they adopted "Christmas" as a religious festival, if you look at all the roots of christmas they come from ancient pagan religions, the church adopted it to make religion more appealing to the masses.

The diet was given in the Law of Moses to ensure good health. It still stands today and is very good advice.

Jesus said he didn't come to destroy the Law, but to fulfil it (Matt 5:17). All he did was add a spiritual dimension to the Law and abolish vicarious sacrifice of animals (which were considered to be wealth by people in times past), teaching in its place the sacrificing of our imperfections. - Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect (Matt. 5:48).

When he said it is not what goes into your mouth that defiles you, but what comes out of it; he was teaching that it is more important to have a pure heart, from which comes only pure things, than to eat healthy food. He didn't say you should not eat healthy food.

It also says in the Bible that every creature is subject to man... which I would translate as "you can eat it, wear it or keep it as a pet..." Arguements over the literal meanings of the Bible will go on and on.

If Man was made in God's image and God gave man the freedom of choice then whether we eat the Pig or by it a furry cardigan and take it walks is up to us.

More important questions should be proffered, like, why does man kill man etc and why are so called religions allowed to "bend the rules" in order to outcast races, colours, genders etc.

Each one of us knows what is right and wrong, each one of us has the choice. Each one of us believes Our God is Good and that He gave us life. If anyone thought that something they were about to do would be displeasing God then they wouldn't do it would they. But how many of us really contemplate our actions and subsequent consequences?

for example: casting aspersions, can anyone claim to be sin free?

Maybe as they have the sense to make some of their decsions for themselves and not get all from a cult book.

Ie its protein, it taste nice, its food.

And if cooked properly and eaten in moderation you usually dont have a problem whilst in olden days when this book was written they did not have good food hygene, it was a hot country, no fridge freezers and pigs are more prone to bugs in meat.

Say, mano, don't you know that Jesus modified some of the old rules ? Certain foods were forbidden for hygienic purposes. In times of Moses it was not known why, but they knew that some foods were unhealthy. Thus, a series of rules were made to prevent sicknesses.
Nowadays, we know how to prevent the sicknesses and we can eat pork

That was under the law of moses and Jesus ended that law when he was the only sacrifice that God accepted. If you read and I challenge you to read Colossians 2:9-17 where he talks about let no man judge you by what you eat or drink or by the keeping of any Sabbaths. WOW...
