...Someone has said somewhere that "there are no blowouts in the Christian life, but many slow leaks".
...Another one I heard and I believe to be true is "When God seems far away, guess who moved." You did, I did. We stopped spending time with God in His word and prayer; we stopped serving others and/or attending worship services at our church.
...I would not say I "lost my faith" but I do admit that there are times of spiritual dryness, like the desert wanderings of the Israelites, and I have had them. If I am discouraged or depressed, sometimes the Bible seems dry, and I can't see or sense God working in my life, but I know by faith He is; I just keep on doing the things He wants me to, spending time in the Word and in prayer, in fellowship with other believers and witnessing as God gives me opportunity. Also, I need to look for ways to serve; I need to guard my thought life and order my thought by thinking things according to Philippians 4:8.
...Trust in God's word, all of it, whether or not feelings are there. Beware of the feeling-oriented life. James 1:22 says " Be a doer of the Word, and that the doer of the Word is blessed. God honors the doer of the Word, so live the obedience-oriented life and you will have peace and joy as a by-product.

I'm not an authority but the only thing you SHOULD be inspired by in the New Testament is what Christ said. Everything else is an accretion of interpretation of the Christ story. Even the Gospels are, in a sense, collations of ideas and events with meanings above and beyond themselves designed to enable you to access a higher spirituality.
Conventional Christian thinking as we know it today is far more limited than historic Christian thinking as found in the pre-Renaissance mystics. All you have to do is follow your heart. Interpret the Christ message in your own way rather than seek to accept the philosophies, distortions & oversimplifications of a lot of Christians.

God wants us to trust Him completely and totally—and when we doubt, we aren't trusting Him as we should. The Bible warns that the person who constantly doubts God and fails to trust Him "is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does" (James 1:8).
At the same time, God understands our doubts, and the most important thing I can tell you is that He wants to take them away and increase our faith. Do you remember Thomas, who was one of Jesus' closest disciples? When others told him that Jesus had been raised from the dead after His crucifixion, Thomas refused to believe it. He declared, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it" (John 20:25).
How did Jesus respond? He didn't rebuke Thomas or tell him just to have more faith. Instead, Jesus came to him and showed him that He was alive. The response was immediate: "Thomas said to him, 'My Lord and my God!'" (John 20:28). Tradition says Thomas became an evangelist and preached the Gospel as far as India.
When doubts come, don't let them take root in your soul. Instead, turn them over to Christ. Most of all, saturate your heart and mind every day with the truths of God's Word, the Bible. Satan will try to turn you away, but in Christ "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure" (Hebrews 6:19).

My faith gets stronger from reading my Word and also from the trials , that I go through , I have experienced so much tragedy in my life, where Jesus was the only one that I had and I found out that He is the only one that I need.
People will let you down and Jesus seems to always be there .
Don't give up hope, it will come back , just don't give up on Jesus , because He hasn't given up on you !!!
God bless you

You haven't lost your faith.
You've only lost your TRUST in what some HUMANS wrote. Trust in a BOOK is what you don't have.
I'm an Indian I follow my traditions now.
My mother TRIED to raise me Roman Catholic. But then i learned to read and walked away from them when i was about 14.
I find when my spirit is low, going camping wakes me up. Recently I went camping on the coast. I watched the sun come out of the sea, shivered in the mist and seen a pod of dolphin hunting in the surf. It reminded me just how powerful things are and how small i am. It humbled me, brought the old ME back.
So my advice, go camping. Be alone and LET it come to you.
Good Luck

I have felt this way many times, I get down hearted with the whole christianity things. but i do find when i take out the middle men , and start looking at my bible n praying myself, things start to change. you dont always need the priest beside ya to pray. inside the church you find alot of unsaved believers and lots of backstabbing and stuff like that but if you remove ya self from that and get back to basics it helps.
Im not entirely sure where in the bible but it does say; he who confesses that Jesus is the son of God, God abides in him and he in God.
This means to me that if I confess that Jesus is God, God will live in me and me in God.
This is kinda hard to believe prolly but to believe it you have to have faith, and that is what the christianity religion is based on faith. I understand that it does waver at times, We were given a free will by God, so we can choose if have faith or not.
Stay strong , get back to basics, the bible is your basis instructions before leaving earth.
I find when I get to reading it more , life in general is more understanding and easier to live. Remeber we are only here for a short time.. And things may totally suck but Jesus dont leave ya side even for a short minute.

Being on the forum can cause you to think you are loosing faith.
When I felt that way I remembered that I know what I believe and I remember the words that Paul wrote about running the race for the prize, and not fainting. I was going through a dry spell, but I am back. There are many seducing spirits out there and you just need to hang in there.
Read and meditate on Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

I found myself having doubts in college and I could see that I was leaning away from Christianity. So, I prayed, told God he'd have to do something. Bottom line, was by 6 months things happened and I haven't looked back since. That was 30 years ago and I'm glad that I still have my faith!

¬Me too! Im in the same boat as you! I just cant go along with the church any more. I started reading about different religions and I am sort of forming my own eclectic pagan path based on what I do believe and have faith in.
Read. Thats the advice I can give to you. Thats what I did and its working so well for me. My life seems so much clearer now.
Good Luck and Blessed Be

I have at times been disillusioned by the acts of others. Then I realized that I was turning my eyes from looking in FAITH TO JESUS to looking at frail humans, who will in time fail us all.
Do not depend on another human to keep you strong but rather on THE WORD and SPIRIT of GOD. People will eventually fail you, but GOD NEVER WILL.
TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS
JESUS Bless you,
dave
