Yes, waiting.
Here are some websites with good, accurate information on finding out about the Jewish messiah and how we will know when it's the right person.
Most of these also point out why Jesus was not the Messiah that the Jews are waiting for, in addition to showing exactly what DOES qualify a person as the Messiah.
If you read these you will know more than most Christians about the Jewish messiah, for sure.
Also, keep in mind that there is no such concept as a "second coming" in Judaism, and never has been. It's a Christian invention, and meaningless in Judaism.

Yup, still waiting.
Messianic criteria:
1. He has to be descended from King David, from his father's side.
2. He has to be prophet. He has to recognized as a prophet, two.
3. He has to be a righteous man in general.
4. On the Messiah's to-do list: bring about world peace, usher in an age of righteousness and universal prophecy, re-establish the Sanhedrin (Jewish High Court), re-build the Holy Temple, and bring about Eden on earth.
As you can see, the coming of the Jewish Messiah is not likely to be up for debate. It's gonna be pretty obvious.

The jewish people await a messiah (human not a god) to come and bring peace.. he is a political leader and not a religious figure for them. This is just one of the reasons why they don't buy into christianity.

One of the preludes to the coming of the Messiah, is the appearance first of the prophet Elijah.
If you recall when Jesus said he is the Christ, his doubters retorted (in so many words: paraphrased), if you are the Christ, where is Elijah? Because the prophecy dictated that he must show up first.
*sigh* go figure.

Not to shock you or anything but so are those pesky Christians. Imagine waiting thousands of years and nothing ever happens! What a wonder! Life is a grand adventure.

*Proof that Jesus is the true Messiah*
The Messiah's birth, ministry & crucifixion are prophetic
-Isaiah 53:6-7 "He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep is silent bebore the shearing, He did not open His mouth"
-Psalms 22:16 "My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs, an evil gang closes in on me. They have pierced my hands and feet. My enemies stare at me and gloat."
-Isaiah 50:6 :I give back to those who beat me and my cheeks to those who pull out my beard. They mock me and spit on my face"
-Psalms 22:6-8"I am scorned and despised by all. Everyone who sees me mocks me. This is the one who relies on the Lord? Then let the Lord save him...rescue him"
-Psalms 22:1"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
-Psalms 69:21"In my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink"
-Psalms 41:9"Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, turned against me"
-Zechariah 11:12"So they weighed for my price, thirty pieces of silver"
-Zechariah 9:9"The king cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon a donkey, and upon a colt the foal of a donkey"
-Isaiah53:7"But who among the people realized that He was dying for their sins?"
-Psalms 22:17-18"I can count every bone in my body. My enemies stare at me and gloat. They divide my clothes among themselves and throw dice for my garments"
-Daniel 9:24-27"His ministry will last three and a half years"
Please believe! What a terrible loss it would be when Jesus returns in all His power and glory. Unable to meet eye to eye with your creator, because you refused to believe that He is your Savior. Your Messiah; the one who shed His precious blood for you. You have read the prophecies and some of the verses, the rest is up to you.

Yes Jews are waiting for God to come the 1st time.
Gentiles (us) are wait for God to come a second time.
He will reveal Himself through "signs and wonders". [Jews require a sign.]

Uh... that's kind of a no-brainer. He'll be known when he fulfills the prophecy.
