I mean of course it is VERY helpful to get some things you will need for the baby, but i dread opening up the gifts in front of everyone. I'm just not the type of person that likes the "spotlight" on them. Do you know what i mean? I just wish someone could open with me or something .lol has anyone else felt like this???

I know exactly how you feel... I had a baby shower and I just had fun with it.. I played the games, and I waddled around and greeted EVERYONE. That's really important, it shows that you care that people support and love you and your new addition.. So, while you hate being in the spotlight. It's best just to ohhh and ahhhh and let everyone have fun along with you.. Also, have someone take a list (sit with you) of who bought what gifts, to make Thank you's easier and more personal... That will take a lot of the pressure off you.... Hope this helps and good luck

I cant wait for my baby shower, but then i am sort of dreading it to. I also hate opening gifts infront of people i would rather have them bring gifts and then open them later when im home and comfortable with my bf or mother. I also dont want to be in the spotlight i hate making small talk and find it hard to carry on a conversation latlety. But i have made it very clear that i want my baby shower to have both famales and males and i am having my bf there to take some of the pressure off me, i am also going to have him help me open the presentd when it comes time.

The first thing my best friend said when she found out I was pregnant was "I want to do your shower". I was on bed rest when the time came and was disappointed when the doctor said that I could go. My husband came with me because I couldn't pick up presents on my own and my Dad asked him if he could go because it was for his baby girl and he had never been to one before. He is the father of 9 by the way and didn't come to my first. Anyway, the point is that once word got out that my Dad and Peter were going to be their it became a couples shower and I had fun watching Peter's facial expressions that I am glad we had it.

Just remember that the goal is to have things for the baby and let everyone see you w/a big belly.

Try to enjoy!

i was the same way for mine 3 years ago. Maybe you could do a baby shower where the men are invited too and you could get the father to help open the gifts. My best friend had one like that and it was real nice.

Sorry, my shower is next Sunday and I just told my husband today that I am SO excited that I can't wait!! We are going to have fun playing games and sort of things. I love parties!!! Especially if I get to open gifts and they really aren't for ME they are for my baby girl!!! I am so excited!!! I hope you have fun at your shower, but I know what you mean...I don't like people looking at me and watching my face expression...I make the weirdest facial expressions sometimes and it might be a bad face that I make, but it doesn't mean that I don't like what they got me...I don't know why I do that, but I just look snotty sometimes...people tell me that all the time. I don't mean to be like that and this Sunday I am going to try really hard to just SMILE and thank everyone!!! Good luck to you!

Ditto! I've NEVER had a baby shower and for that very reason. I hate parties for myself, I'd rather ppl bring gifts into the hospital or to our home after our baby is here.

you can have your mom or a few friends sit up in the front with you while you open the gifts, and they can write down what you get from each person. good luck

Someone can. Get your bridesmaid or matron of honor to help you - or whoever you have chosen to be godmother to your child.
