goodwill or other charity. Never put them in the trash unless they are broken beyond reapir!! Stop buying so much for your kids, they need to apppreciate what they have, not just expect more.

Been there, done that. Still doing it at times it seems. If you'd you like to make some extra cash you could have a yard sale. You could even tell the kids that they can earn some cash for every toy the are willing to give up for the yard sale. Or simply donate to a local shelter in your city. Some women's shelter's would be happy to recieve extra toys and clothing. I had to start to tell my family to stop giving my children so many toys. My house was a freakin toys r us. Yet your on a start already. Your neighbors are sure grateful to recieve the items you no longer have a need for.

This is simple but requires a 4 step process to end this problem forever.
1) Tell family and friends to give you gift cards for any toys they may want to give your children, then it will be something you can give your children if they really want them!!!
2) GO THROUGH THE TOYS AND BAG OR BOX THE ONES THEY DON'T USE. FOR WHAT EVER WAY YOU DECIDE ON FOR GETTING RID OF THEM.
3) Make sure your not giving in to the kids in the store yourself. ya know when they kick scream and throw a fit.:D
4) And then every 3 months or when ever the kids don't care for their own messes, pick up some random toys and put them into an ever present bag of garbage that is "just not quite full enough". But only do this if you and the kids know in advance that you are going to do this. or else the kids will start to feel like you have no respect for them or their things either.

Twice a year we go thru the toys. At Christmas time our local school in conjunction w/the local children's hospital has a gently used toy drive. I encourage my kids to donate their toys that they really no longer play with. At first, this was difficult for them to let go, but the more often we do this, the better they are at it. The other time is usually during the summer, and we either save it for a garage sale or donate it to Goodwill or some other charity. Set aside a day, and get them to help.....my kids are now 7 and almost 9....been doing it since they were toddlers.

I know the feeling! I usually go through my kids toys once a month. I offer them to family, friends and neighbors. I call the local hospital and see if they'll take some for the children's wing. I also check with my son's pre-school or the church pre school.. They don't sometimes take the toys but will always take any books i want to give away. I then go to charity, toys for tots, woman shelters etc. I do the same thing with clothes.
Best wishes! =]

I would give them to your local women/children shelter. I used to work for a human service agency and we loved having donations since most of the children that come there with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Also, I don't know where you live but do you have a Salavation Army or some type of non profit thrift store in your area? I would hate to see things get thrown away when there are so many people in need.

You are very blessed. Maybe you could try donating them to Day cares, Women's shelters, or The Pregnancy Care Centre, so women or teen moms can give these toys to their children who could not otherwise afford to do so. If all else fails, Good Will, Value Village or The Salvation Army can take them off your hands. Good Luck!
