Hi to all,
A friend of mine wishes to take up photography and has developed a website, I would be intereted to hear opinions of his work, be it positive or negative...
He wants to work for himself, do you think it is a good idea..?
Many thanks in anticipation
Pete

Twinkle starr, if it was mine I would freely admit it, but the truth is a friend of mine has given up driving to pursue the career, his confidence has taken an all time low, hence the reason I put on...
So before making jumping to conclusions, please make sure of your facts....

I agree with designer_john. In my opinion...I wasnt too impressed with the Gallery pages. Too many pics on each page and the bright green edging is too confusing. Another thing which would "put me off" from hiring your friend is I noticed several pics of the same ppl in different situations which leads me to think that these r family members posing for the pics rather than "clients". Another point I noticed....in the pic with the boy in uniform holding a silver cup....be careful of photographing shiny objects...I can see the photographers reflection in the cup.
Please note: a gr8 effort with the design of the website itself...I think some fine tuning is needed in the pic taking area though.
Absolutely NO offence is intended in my answer....just some constructive criticism.

Hello
(viewers delete the dots "..." at the end of the link to view the website).
Your friend has a good portfolio of work but the colours are a bit bright or the contrast is far too high. Photography websites tend to work better with less bright dreamy photos. Too many sample photos in different colours have been supplied that will confuse customers, try to specialise in one technique only so clients know what they are getting.
The website is also a bit techni colour and large images have been used to create the pages which is an absolute NO in web design. Text should be HTML with image links, tone down the design of the site and use a name in the header to create a strong brand and further focus on a unique style.
If your friend is new to photography I would recommend a few years experience before doing wedding photography, most start with still objects, landscapes, buildings, commercial and modelling before moving on to weddings.

Go for it.

But tell your friend to do some research of websites and maybe, "tone it down" a bit as the website detracts from the pics.

Other than that, it's an honest job, so why not. I've seen much worse attempts from people who call themselves professional.

You see, "everyone is a photographer" or would like to be!

helps with the correct webb page. why can you not admit it is for yourself why do people have to pretend it for someone else. If you work for youself i would do it as a part time job until you get established as it an expensive job otherwise
