My dog HAS to sleep under blankets, She will not sleep unless something is covering her entire body. Why does she do this, does anyone elses dog do this, what breed is it?

Mine do this, they are dachshunds, very much a burrowing breed. If there is a blanket on the couch we have learned to check first before plopping down so we don't accidently butt-press one of them...
When allowed up on my bed they dive in head first. If I doze off I sometimes awake with dog in my face, and it ain't the licking end... ;)
Their own beds actually have a flap attached so they can cover themselves; called a "burrow bed" - all three LOVE these beds!

Lots of dogs feel safer when they are in a "cave" or small sheltered area. If you don't want the dog under your blankets, you could try putting some blankets in a crate or wicker basket.

My dog weighs 75 lbs and she still likes to get under the covers. She seems content to sleep in a big basket with a pillow in it though.

Usually small breed dogs like chihauhaus or toy manchesters will exhibit this exact behavior. They like to be warm and feel secure. My grandparents had a toy manchester who slept in bed with them at night all the way under the covers and down by their feet. I think it's cute.

Safety is the issue...the blanket...even so thin a vale provides a feeling of not being seen....the dog thinks if I can't see them...they can't see me...or they are just cold LOL

It's a pack thing...dogs are pack animals....they will always like blankets, pillows, people, other dogs.

how cute! my friend's chihuahua does this too. i think it's just for comfort. my dog likes to put her head on a pillow when she sleeps, that's how she gets comfortable.

I think it is a comfort thing. My Chihuahua/rat terrier mix does it all the time.
