I need some sources on healthy alternatives to energy drinks. I'm doing a persuassive speech on energy drinks, so if anyone knows any websites that I can use I would gladly accept some help :)

I've already tried googling alternatives to energy drinks, and alternatives to caffeine, and all I've gotten is how "Cocaine" has been pulled off the market.

I know there are alternatives, like water, nuts, and tea,but I need sources! Can anyone help please?

If you want to try Ginseng then look around at Cost Co. for the best price. They have a Cost Co. Brand that has all 3 or 4 types of Ginseng in 1 gel cap. Caffeine is a highly addictive and your tolerances go up SUPER QUICK... It takes about a week to finish withdrawel but after you get off of it you will see that you can do just as well without it. The best way to perk up without stimulents is to make sure that you are not dehydrated, that you get at least 15 min's of direct sunlight in the morning, and that you get about 15 min's of exercise in the afternoon. Oh, and don't eat a huge lunch or a lunch made up of carbs. The afternoon slump has 3 distinct causes for the average person: 1. They didn't eat lunch at all and they are out of "fuel" 2. They ate a big lunch and the body has pushed all it's energy into digesting it. 3. They ate a lot of carbs, they got converted to sugar, the sugar gets burned QUICK and their bloodsugar crashed. If you make sure that you don't ever get super hungry then you always have your blood sugar at an even levle so you don't have the up's and down's of eating then getting really hungry. Just think about your biology and do what seems logical and your body will run at it's peak!

I might suggest you, could take an approach that not all energy drinks are bad. You could play off the fact that XS energy drinks are good for you because if these main reasons.
1. No sugar
2. No carbs
3. Caffeine levels the same as a cup of coffee
4. Three caffeine-free flavors
5. B12 vitamins for energy
6. Other important vitamins (varies with flavors)
I can email a table on XS that you can use as a source.
Not all energy drinks are the same.

Gah! You're right. An initial search engine check gave me a bunch of cocaine responses.

Look up "energy density." It explains why certain foods are better than others and can help with energy gain and weight loss without starving. Here's a good one: http://health.msn.com/dietfitness/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100159809

And when you compare the nutritional impact of the foods listed in that list to the information in this article about why energy drinks are bad (caffeine), I expect you'll come up with something good (i.e. why drink that when you could eat something so much better?).: http://www.brown.edu/Student_Services/Health_Services/Health_Education/atod/energydrinks.htm

Also, you may want to consider why people drink energy drinks. Should they be eating something more filling, nutritional, and energy-sustaining instead of getting that short-term burst of energy from a drink only to find themselves deflated a few hours later? A famous fitness guru (name escapes me) said exactly that in a morning talk show. That could provide you with some compelling points of argument as well.

Good luck!

I have not experienced the energy drinks that you mention. However, most of these energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine and sugar which can be bad for my body.

The one I drink is different because it does not contain all of the caffeine and sugar or other ingredients that could be bad. I drink one every day and it helps me with my energy level. It works in minutes, lasts for several hours as it is more of a nutritional supplement.

If you are concerned about your health, you may want to check it out. I got mine at www.carlshealthhelp.com/energy

Many natural drinks, such as teas, are very good alternatives. They are cleansing for the body, and very relaxing. Also, there are newer drinks that are better sources of energy for you. Vitamin Water is one. It is flavored water that is full of vitamins. It tastes good, and it's very healthy for you.

One problem with many energy drinks and other drinks, such as sodas, is the ingredients. One thing to look out for is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. It is found in most sodas and is very bad for you. It causes clogged veins and arteries.

Another ingredient to watch for is SUCRALOSE or Splenda. It is actually worse for you than sugar. There are even some cases where people who switched to Splenda actually died. Many of Aquafina's falvored waters use Splenda and even Propel does.

Hi
Try this great Xanthone laden drink ;the fruit of the Mangosteen fruit. This is a fruit which was the darling of Queen Victoria ;it comes from South East Asia and it is full of nutrients. If you want to learn more about it you can go to the source at the gov journal of medicine www.pubmed.gov and look up Xanthones GARCINIA MANGOSTINA.
Nature has 200 xanthones most of them are good for the body to produce great energy but most of nature's plants dont have edible xanthones ;they are acrid and are not edible ;only the Mangosteen fruit has 40 commercial xanthones in it.Try it you will be glad you did but only use the best Mangosteen in town ;there are some fake Mangosteen juices around.Look for the originator of the juice.

Don't know any web sites, but when I was compettitive swimming, between events we would drink hot green tea laced with lots of honey. It gives a great short term energy boost, has lot's of anti oxidents and was healthy too, Also, Honey is a natural anti biotic.

A good way of alternate energy is through royal jelly supplements and snacks. Here's a good link.

The best alternative is just plain old water. Bottled or from the tap, (if you have good water where you are). It's the fastest way to get oxygen to your cells.
