Yesterday she threw up twice. I looked into the vomit and I could see the dry food I feed her. This morning she ate her food, but she still hasn't gone to #2 bathroom. She normally goes bathroom soon after she eats. Should I be concerned?

Random facts about my dog.
Breed: Beagle/Lab
Age: 8
Female, about knee height. around 35 pounds
if you need any more info i'll tell you...

We don't feed her table food. She's an outdoor dog. It doesn't help that she's super friendly and sometimes neighboring kids feed her stuff. (we caught this girl feeding her cat food, we got that kid in trouble.)

I don't really know how to put pictures up, but she looks like a mini yellow lab. She has some small spots on her tummy and paws, but they're rarely visible. She's got the beagle ears and tail.

The reason why I asked online is cause we don't really use the vet cause of expenses and seemingly unnecessary treatments. We've taken her like 4 times in the 6 years we've had her. (we get her shots at the shelter we got her) Where my parents come from, the most they do for their dogs is their shots, they don't believe in "babying" their dogs with expensive vet treatments (in fact my mom thinks this will all pass over by itself without medication or anything) So if i didn't ask online, i wouldn't have any clue what was up with my dog. (just explaining myself to that bozo)

If it keeps up, I'll force my parents to take her to the vet tomorrow.

Just to clarify, yesterday she threw up her food twice. Today she ate it, hasn't thrown up, but hasn't pooped yet.

She's acting normally... sleeping :D

Thanks everyone who answered! i appreciate your help!

I would think that the #2 comes from a previous meal, but if she vomited it up, there is no #2. If she is not active as she normally is, it could be serious. You should take her to the vet.

How does a beagle/lab look like? Photo?

If she ate her food today, and has not thrown that food up, and is otherwise acting "normal" today (drinking same amount of water as usual, not panting or appearing anxious, and does not start having diarhhea), then I think it would be safe to wait until Monday to call your vet for his/her advice.
However, if the dog does vomit whenever it eats, and especially if dog also has diarhhea, then I would probably take dog to emergency animal clinic today.
Altho' many dogs live older than 8, some do start having health problems around that age. I would certainly talk to my vet on Monday, just to be sure, since some conditions get worse quickly.

Sometimes dogs when they age get constipated much more easily. If that's the case with your dog, make sure she's drinking plenty of water (that'll help a bit), but get her to the vet as soon as you can. The vet can determine the underlying cause for the constipation and treat it. As for her throwing up, that's usually not a big deal - she might have eaten something that didn't agree with her, but the vet can set your mind at rest about that, too.

Well you should be cautious with dogs. They are slightly different and behave differently then humans. You need to always take care of what they eat and their health.

Many world-famous Doctors of Veterinary Medicine and published Dog Care Experts universally agree any dog that eats commercial dog food is at a much higher risk of dying prematurely and by the time symptoms are noticeable, it's often too late to prevent an agonizing death except by lethal injection.

You can find more information what your dog should eat ... here.

Yes, you should be concerned if this continues for even one more day. Right now, she can't do number 2 because she didn't hold down enough food to have a bowel movement. If she keeps her food down AND has a bowel movement tomorrow, still keep watch on her. Dogs can go down very quickly so don't ignore this. Call your vet's office and ask them if they think you should bring her in--especially since she is getting some years on her.

Good luck!!

I would definitely keep an eye on her. If she drinks water and eats without throwing up, she's okay. If she stops either one she may have swallowed something that is stuck in her intestines, like a sock, hair scrungey, glove, toy, rock. She may pass these but, if she doesn't then I would take her to the vet.

Is she notorious for chewing things she shouldn't? Does she play with rocks? It sounds like she has a blockage. Is she slightly slower than usual? If she isn't better soon, or vomits again, and doesn't gone '#2' by evening, I'd suggest calling a local vet to see if they think she sould come in.

I'm glad to hear that your dog is better. You really should take her to the vet more often. You can get stuff to clear out their ears at the pet store. Take good care of your friend who shows you unconditional love.

she might not be able to chew the dry food anymore...
keep going with it for a few days, maybe it was something else that she ate (do you feed her table food? check out http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1661&articleid=1030 to see if you could have fed her something that was a toxin). if it continues happening, try softening her food with warm water before you give it to her, buying wet food, or making your own food.
