I am interested in trying to sale or trade this rifle, but there is no indication of the model other than "Model 70 .270 Win. The first letter of the serial number is G if that helps. This is not enough info for me to find this specific gun in the Gun Traders Guide. Can anyone help? Thanks

I also have a model 70, .270. The G is in front of the serial number. Mine is a "Ranger". It is written on the barrel above the forearm. I bought mine in "93". The model 70 is no longer made since last year and the values have just jumped. One gun parts company is selling complete receivers for over $500. Your's may go for more or less depending on the year it was made and the condition. You may want to check the gun auction sites for the asking prices of your gun.

I have seen your model 70 going for $400-$500. You don't say if it has a scope or not. This estimate is with an inexpensive scope.

They made a zillion variations, so it's going to be very difficult to do this long-range. Best to go to a knowledgeable dealer for an accurate appraisal. They've gone up remarkably in worth since the model was discontinued, and those made before 1964 (probably not yours) are worth their weight in gold.
