She is miserable and I can't reach Hartz until tomorrow. I just bathed her yesterday and she gets a bath once a week since she is inside but I have noticed fleas on her today. I use a flea shampoo too. Yikes! I am at a loss about what to do today. I will call the vet tomorrow.

Do not use Hartz, it does not work well at all. Wait out the next two weeks before applying new topicals If you are going to use topicals try any of these...

K9-ADVANTIX is... for puppies 7 weeks or older.
FRONTLINE PLUS.. is for puppies over 8 weeks.
FRONTLINE SPRAY.. is for puppies and kittens OVER 8 weeks.
ADVANTAGE is.. for puppies over 7 weeks.
CAPSTAR is.. for puppies 4 weeks of age and over 2 lbs.
ADAMS is ..NOT for pets under 12 weeks.
PREVENTIC.. ( tick collar) is for puppies OVER 12 weeks.
BIO-SPOT.. is for dogs and puppies 6 months or over.
CUTTER... is for puppies 3 months or older.
PROGRAM ORAL TABLETS..is for puppies 6 WEEKS or older

You may have to get a few flea bobs to set off in the house. take out all the dogs bedding and any rugs. Close all windows and set off your bombs.( make sure no pets are in the house) Stay out of the house for 2 hours. After that go in and open windows and doors and go back out for another 30 mins.
When you are able to go back in, vacuum the house real good.
Then sprinkle Borax all over your carpets. (let sit over night)and vacuum. You can use Borax (found in your laundry aisle in the grocery store)

We use the Borax twice a months even if we don't need it. we have not seen fleas for a long time.

Take your dog and give her a bath. Make sure you use a flea shampoo or( Dawn dish soap original blue works great for fleas), Wet your dog good. Do it this way or the fleas will run for cover............ Put the soap on your hands and rub together, take the soap on your hands and rub around the dogs ears, top of head, nose, paying special attention not to get in their eyes, then put more soap on hands and go and rub the soap into their fur around their tail and rear area.
( fleas do not like water and will try to hide in their ears, eyes, and rear area, that is why to do this first) then lather up the rest of the dog. work up a good lather and leave on for at least 5 minutes no less. Rinse very well. Put on a topical flea drops. You will have to use the drops evey month. I do not care for flea collars.

Wash their bedding in soap and hot water.

For couches and chairs. You will need to vacuum them good and get a flea spray for the house. Most are fabric safe.

If your yard is infested with fleas, a normal flea spray or yard bombs for yards may not work. You may have to contact an exterminator.

This is the same answer I gave another person

#1) Hartz is not your best bet for spot-ons; try Frontline or K9Advantage instead.
#2) Too frequent bathing will dry the dogs skin and remove the natural oils which are necessary to distribute the pesticide. A dog should not be bathed within 2 days (either side) of putting on the drops - read your package - you probably washed it off!
#3) I'd bathe her with a flea and tick shampoo for now, then get a capstar and some frontline from the vet.
#4) Remember that the old bites are going to continue to itch until (and while) they heal...think about the last mosquito bite you got.
#5) Bear in mind that you also need to treat the environment as well; fleas drop off, hop back on, also flea eggs are continually hatching.
Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum some more, flea bomb the house, wash her bedding, treat the yard areas she uses. You can put your hartz flea drops on the vacuum bag.

If you "don't have the means to take them to the vet", then you shouldn't have any dogs at all. You have to be a responsible owner. If you were flea-infested, you'd go to the doctor, wouldn't you? The only thing you can do is buy some flea-killing shampoo and use a VERY small amount, since they are only two weeks old, and put it on a sponge with warm water and pass it over the pups.

Do NOT use ANY OTC flea product (including flea shampoos and flea collars) especially Hartz!!!! OTC products aren't effective plus they are dangerous to use. They can cause skin irritation, skin burns, hair lose, neurological issues, seizures and death.

In answer to your question NO!!! you can NOT reapply a flea product 2 weeks after applied especially if it is OTC and in particular HARTZ!!!

Go to your vet and get a safe flea/tick product such as Frontline Plus.

Hartz products don't work worth a poop. You're lucky your pup didn't get really sick from it.
When you talk to your vet, ask about getting frontline or advantage. They actually work within 24 hours. Though, you're pup may still pick up the occasional flea in the house or yard, they will die very quickly.

when you use flea shampoo start at the neck so the fleas can't run up to the face where it's harder to wash properly. hope this helps keep fleas off her better. but it sounds like you're already working hard at keeping her free of fleas and taking her to the doctor is the best thing you can do. also remember to treat the environment, her bed, wherever she hangs out, your carpet, etc... you can get flea powder or spray for your home so she doesn't get reinfected. you can probably reapply the drops but read the label carefully and don't do it if you're not supposed to. good luck.

Do not reapply! Those are poisons, so you can definitely put too much on her. Definitely call the vet, they will be able to help you out. Hartz is notoriously bad, so be careful using it.

Please, do NOT use those Hartz drops. They are not very effective, and can actually be dangerous to pets.

Throw them away, and get some effective flea control, like Frontline or Advantix.
