I had a passport when I was a kid, and never used it. Later in life, I was convicted of a non-violent felony (trafficking in MDMA (ecstasy)). I've done my sentence, all of my rights have been restored - other than possessing a gun. Can I still get a passport, and do I need to do anything "special" to get one?

To the first part yes you can get one because you are not under indictment. Second nothing special to get one.

It's up to the discretion of the passport agency. Basically they have to size you up and decide if you might use your travel to sell more drugs. It's a hard life for you, but you belong to the government now.
