I begin feeding a slush made from goat milk or puppy formula (Esbilac can be found at any pet supply or WalMart.) and high quality puppy kibble, (blendered) when they are about 3-31/2 weeks old. Feed quite warm to avoid colic. Feed this twice daily in the beginning. As they approach 6 weeks, increase the number of feedings, and leave less mushy, until at about 7-8 weeks, they are not much interested in mom's milk.
I put the mush in a flat heavy dish, such as a pyrex pie plate or cake pan. Allow them to get it on themselves, as mom will happily clean them up quickly.
You can get canned goat milk anywhere that canned milk is sold. Dilute it with one part bottled or boiled water to one part canned goat milk.

HI! I would suggest a high quality puppy food like Wellness puppy food.
You can make a puppy mush at 4 weeks old by placing 1 or 2 cups of the puppy food into a blender and chop it up and add either warm water or Puppy replacement milk. I used plain warm water. Pour this into a shallow pan like a pie pan and allow the pups to lap this up. You can offer this 3 or 4 times a day. Mom should be still nursing the pups a bit but she may have already started the weening process. You can also try to offer water also in a shallow pan. Keep a towel handy because the pups will make a mess of them selves. BY five weeks old you can just moisten the food and break it up with a fork and offer this 3 to 4 times a day. also by now you should have water available for them. At 6 weeks just soak the puppy food and feed this to the pups same amount of times and water should be there for them at all times by now. From 7 weeks on until they have been re homed you can just moisten the food and mix a bit of dry into it also. Water should be there for them at all times.
Hope this helps and have a good time with your new pups.

Just pick one of the top quality brands of dry puppy food and moisten it with warm water. You can start offering it to the puppies when they're 4 weeks old, 2 - 3 times a day. Put it in a really shallow dish, like a saucer, and give them about 20 minutes to eat, then let the mom have any left overs. You should also be offering them fresh water several times a day then.

the best food to start your pups on is a little puppy food and in the evening give them weetabix put a little of the food on your finger and place it on the roof of pups mouth they will then eat it and bit by bit they will start weaning away from mum i do this when my pups are 3 weeks old and never had any problems i have breed bichon frise for 6 years don't give them to much a verity or new owners will end up with feeding problems keep to the min choice to stop fussy puppys dont wait for mum to stop feeding them you start weaning at 3 weeks old and worm them at same time by the way your pups eyes should be open now

I always wean our litters with weetabix, then later onto a dried puppy food soaked in boiling water, make the feeds up early though as the litter can be very impatient waiting for it to cool. I also give any small pups a bottle feed of Lactol Milk if I don't think they are getting enough from mum.

Purchase a good quality wet canned puppy food and make sure they have plenty of water. Don't give them milk. Once they get a little older, about 8 weeks you can mix the wet with
dry. Make sure that new owners are aware of what you are feeding them.

i fed my pups on tinned puppy food (pedigree) and mixed it with boiled-cooled- water. They loved it, but, i shall warn you they make such a mess with it and climb in, fall over it is fun to watch them exploring, but might need a wash after wards. Good luck, your pups eyes should be opening soon, and start walking next week, great times ahead. Good luck.
NOT SURE WHY YOU HAVE GAVE ME 2 LOTS OF THUMBS DOWN, I WAS GOING BY THE ADVICE MY VET GAVE ME! SO I'M AFRAID THOSES 2 PEOPLE NEED TO GET THERE FACTS RIGHT FIRST.

Buy them puppy dog food, do not give them wet dog food, thats bad for any dog. When you buy them dry puppy food, put water in it, not alot, just enough to make it soft, so its easy for them to chew.

You might have to bottle feed them. If so use a doll's baby bottle. Just make sure you have punched a hole through the nipple.
If you have to resort to that call your vet and have him or her recommend the formula.
Every time we have had to resort to that and no Vet. around we feed them Coronation Condensed Milk.
You can buy it at any Super Market.
