Most major Universities offer a four year Bachelors course in"Pre-Med". Yes though you due require a bachelors. If not in Pre-Med they due look at degree's for Biology, Chemistry, and even Nursing and Business. Pay attention to your GPA, take as many sciences as you can, and apply to as many schools as you can. It is not unheard of for succesfull graduates to apply to 5 and 6 schools before being accepted.

All U.S. medical schools require a minimum of 90 semester hours in the prerq science courses. Most now prefer that those scince courses be the only ones you take and that you fill out your course load with non-science/non-medical courses to make you a 'well rounded' student.

There are six-year programs that you can enter right out of high school that combine an undergrad degree with an MD program. If you are intereswted in researching these, look at the "Medical School" link on the Association of American Medical Colleges web site: www.aamc.org

You might also want to explore the pre-med/med schools that are located in the Caribbean. Mind you, the quality of the education is lower in quite a few of these schools, but the more reputable schools will get youto your MD just as well as a US med school. You can learn more about these schools at either ValueMD.com or StudentDoctor.net.

Good luck!

You would normally need a 4-year degree to be accepted to medical school, although some schools do have combined programs.

You're more likely to pass med school entrance tests, and to be accepted, if your undergrad program is strong in biology and chemistry.

You need a college degree, usually with major in biology or chemistry. My roommate did it in 3 years and went to med school.
