Hi. :) I just had this question considering that I've never dealed with bleach before when dyeing my hair, but now that I want to do a light cotton candy-ish pink, I'm thinking that I probably will have to bleach my hair. But then I heard about bleach making your hair fall out? Or become way way thinner? I would probably want to go to a salon versus doing it myself, would that make any difference? As a touch up I would maybe go once every two months. Please fill me in.

Yes, it makes it thinner. But only the part that was actually bleached. Whatever new hair you grow - they will be the same thickness as you always had. No, it doesn't make it fall out, unless you do the belaching incorrectly and cause a lot of damage to your scalp. What people often mistaken for falling out is their hair braking off at the root. It is also the result of incorrect bleaching: your hair is softer at the root, it hardens later as it grows. If you use the same bleach on the roots for the same amout of time as you use on the ends - the hair will brake off at the root.

Bleaching makes your hair dryer. If your hair is dry to begin with, it may be not such a good idea. If you hair is oily then you should do fine.

So yeah, have it professionally done.

You should go to a good salon. Definitely don't do it yourself since you want to bleach it. Bleaching doesn't actually make your hair fall out but it strips it and makes it very brittle so it could break off. The hair that grows back will be ok. Some people's hair can take alot more than others so yours may be able to handle it.

It depends on the type of condition your hair is in.. but yes, bleach can be damaging to hair in most cases. Be sure to keep the bleach away from your face and treat it with conditioning and care after bleaching. Too much fussing might exhaust it, so try to keep your hair healthy after bleaching! Choose a brand of pink dye that you can trust will treat your hair right.Good luck with the coloring after!

I hope this helps.. =]

when gwen stefani used to wear her hair in all those tiny little buns on top of her head it was because she didn't have any hair left after bleaching it so much.
Going to a salon is definitely the best way to go.
It just depends on how long you intend to keep your hair this way - i.e. how much you are going to be bleaching it because over a long period of time it's sure to happen.
