What do you think when you read this? Considering that there may be even more with brain injuries going untreated or unseen. And the US is not sure if they can give adequate care for the quantity in the near future.

Your post is excellent!
We hardly ever hear about the injuries.
I think people need to be reminded of the losses involved with Iraq

Well I think if you just look at the various responses here. The first and foremost thing is, that those who are scarred, mamed, injured and disfigured... are easily overlooked and forgotten.

Perhaps this is why there seems little support available for them in recovery when they return? Personally, they should all get FREE healthcare and recovery PAID by the US government/military/tax payers for the remainder of their lives. It's the least we can do!

But everyone else here seems to be going off on the love/hate the war bashing, etc. The comment was about what do you think about those who have survived and may not be able to receive adequate help thereafter.

I think it's terrible myself! That these young men and women have to come back and be overlooked by the high and mighty crowd, who overshadow their selfessness in a tit-for-tat arguement about justification of the war. Shame on all of you and anyone else who would belittle the sacrafice of those still enduring the realities of having served their country!

What do I think? I think that very few of the dead or injured were members of the American administration directing the war. I think that the waste of life in wars generally is very sad. I think it's really unfortunate that soldiers are dying in vain, as they did in Vietnam, since the ultimate solution in Iraq must be made in Iraq by Iraqis. I think it was a big mistake to extend the war on terror in Afghanistan into Iraq; Now soldiers from many countries and civilians of both countries are dying in large numbers on a regular basis while al Qaeda is stronger than ever, Osama Bin Laden is still directing traffic in the terror game and is now operating successfully in Iraq, where he wasn't allowed before the US ousted Saddam. In other words, I weep for the American young people who have been thrown as cannon fodder into a war that has only served to make the world more dangerous than it was.

And how many died or were injured in the last war that had such significance? WWII probably- look up the numbers. Of course back then the American people stood together and understood the ramifications of not succeeding. You are aware that entire cities and millions of people lost their lives in that war because victory was that damn important right? War is costly and yes I served in uniform- 14 yrs so I know the sacrifice.

I think our field hospitals have improved since Vietnam. Also, I have been treated by the VA and civilians for war related ijuries, and I assure you the VA is better, if Congress will fund it. If we are going to fight wars, we must be prepared to care for our injured. They are volunteers, and only want what was promised when they signed.

There's a war against the islamofacists and are soldiers volunteered to fight is because they know evil is real. Evil violence must always be stopped by righteous violence so less people will die in the long run. That's why it's important we support the troops and not allow politicians to play political games and support the war against islamofacists.

I would be surprised if it were as low as 15. TBI (traumatic brain injury) is rampant due to IED attacks and often doesn't get detected or diagnosed correctly or in a timely manner.

I think that it as absolute disgrace that ANY American soldiers are wounded or killed so that another country can make a feeble attempt at democracy.
It is anti-Constitutional.
If Iraq was a threat, we should have bombed them and wiped them all out. There is absolutely no reason for our soldiers to be 'policing' a civil war.

lemme see here now... so the deal the army wants to cut me to be a pawn in a war for oil and world domination is, odds one to 15 that i will live? like, thats supposed to be a good thing?
they undereport the injuries too, so its more like 50,000 that
are seriously injured, not 30,000.

it never ceases to amaze me how some people will attempt
to spin stuff.. 1 in 15? thats not tooo good if you stop and
think about it. Howzabout if i give you a d20 and if you roll a
1, you die? Doesn't sound too great to me. Then you talk to these fools who are all gung ho to join the army...hello? DUH.
