It might be if mankind had come up with that idea but God says that He created us in his own image. You should realize however that the Hebrew word translated into English as "image" is the same word they use for an idol. In other words, when mankind was first created and sin had not come into this world and God had given Adam and Eve dominion over this planet we were supposed to be like tiny representations of God here on earth. When the angels saw people they were supposed to be reminded of what God was like. They were not to mistake people for little "gods". They were just supposed to see us and it would be like seeing a snapshot of God and being reminded of Him in some respects.

Those who thought that god looked like man said hat god made man afer his own image .Man does not have a better image than that of man. The early greeks have gien some weired shapes to the gods of different characters in order to show that ?god was difent from man to some extent ,the early Hindus provided them with several hands and heads if different shapes to atribute special and more powers to them.

What is recorded as being said is “Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image” (Genesis 1:26) and in the next verse 27 is written “ God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female he created them”. So both man and woman were created in his image. The words US and OUR are taken to be of evidence of the three-fold nature of God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). There are several opinions about what is meant by “in our own image”. If you look at what happens later (Genesis 2:7) is understandable if you think that the image is in the form of body, soul and spirit.
No it is not arrogant to believe god created man in his own image - what is arrogant is to think that we have remained in our original created state.

Not arrogant but deluded. Man created god(s) in his own image so that he could use that image to justify his own barbaric behavior. Religion and it's associated gods and dogma has caused more war, death, suffering to the human race than anything else in recorded history.

God created man "in" his image. The little word "in" makes a huge difference when speaking about this concept. Many people interpret this wrongly. They think it says, "God created man to be His image." This is not the case. We were not created to be God.
By saying God created man "in" his image means God created man to look like Him. It would be like an artist looking into a mirror and painting a portrait. The portrait is just a representation of the real thing. It is not the actual person.
The bible says that Jesus Christ "is the image of God." This means that Jesus is the actual person of God. Humans were created to look like Jesus. However, the word "sin" means that we missed the mark. We don't look anything like God.
The best way to illustrate this is to think of a mirror. There is your image (you) and your reflection (the mirror). As long as you stand in front of the mirror, it will reflect your image. When you step away, however, the mirror will reflect another image. Humanity is like the mirror. As long as God is with us, we will reflect God. But if God is not with us, we will reflect other things.

Gen. 1:27 , We are created in his image. We are the same species when we are born again. We are new creatures in Christ, or what it really means new specie just like Jesus. Doesn't God call us his Children. Gods don't give birth to bugs, or reptiles or animals, but to Gods.

No, unless of course if we think we are also God. Image, in the Bible, implies spirit. While God is spirit, spirit is not necessary always God. We are made in that same image - spirit. But we are not God - not yet.
