Most people are born with some degree of artistic talent so, yes, there is a little of the artist in all of us.
In sports there are 'natural' athletics to which it seems that every thing comes 'easy' and there are 'average' athletics who bust their butts, push their 'average' talents to the fullest, and become great players. The same could be said for artists.
There is just about every variation you can think of.
There are some artists with excellent technical skills but without the 'vision' to ever really be original. Then there are some very original artists who suck as skilled artistic craftsmen. It's rare when you find both skills in the same person.
Most of us fall somewhere in between.
You can keep trying and keep developing and keep pushing your talent until you've reach the higher skill levels. Most people born with creative talent can do this. And what you're not born with you can learn.
Two things to remember: Never judge your own art against the art of others and never let yourself get too satisfied with what you've done already because that is when you stop 'growing' as an artist.
The rest of the answer to your question applies to the great
exception: The rarest and most precious of all the creative gifts is 'vision' because it can't be taught, it can't be bought and it can't denied. Perhaps one in ten thousand artists are born with true 'original' vision.

I don't believe so. Maybe there are certain elements of various kinds of artistic pursuits that come easier to those who possess innate talents, but that just helps to pave the road. Whatever someone is born with just serves as a platform. It just makes the bar that much higher. One will always strive to be better; it's just a matter of how much further Mother Nature has catapulted you ahead. Regardless, it requires a lot of hard work. I've been told by many people that I draw extremely well (photograph quality drawings) and quite frankly, although it comes easily, it drains me. The intense concentration and drive to see an idea through to completion pushes me to the brink of nausea and dizziness. Everyone has unique talents, and it's an injustice to let them wither on the vine. If you enjoy your art, do what you can to improve it. Find your niche. Mediocrity is a matter of perspective.

Art is a skill, you get better as you practice and study it more. There are many artists who are born that have art come to them more naturally and easy. Some even prodigies in art. If you have the passion for it and study it you will become better as you go along.

Yes... art is hard work, both mentally and technically.... most creative processes are. Art is a cumulative progression.. no one piece tells it all. Was it Benjamin Franklin who said.. the harder I work, the more luck I have! And don't judge yourself... just go with your passion. I wish you peace and surprise! :)

TO BE AN ARTIST TAKES AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF HARDWORK. FOR EVERY MASTERPIECE CREATED, THERE ARE VOLUMES OF SKETCHES, DRAWINGS AND PRELIMINARY PAINTINGS, SHELVES OF SCULPTURES, ETC. FOR EVERY GREAT PHOTOGRAPH, THERE ARE DOZENS OF ROLLS OF NOT SO GOOD PHOTOGRAPHS.
TALENT IS GREAT, BUT IT'S NOTHING WITHOUT HARDWORK.
