Over and over I am told to "seek out the Lord".

Yet over and over I am told that the Lord chooses those whom he will to be amongst His flock.

If it is by the grace of God I am granted faith, what purpose is served by me seeking Him?

I can't find Him unless He chooses to reveal Himself unto me.

So why spread the Word? If nothing you do and nothing I do makes a difference because it is all up to God to decide to whom He will grant grace, why spread the Word amongst those who do not believe?

Simply because "faith comes by hearing"

When someone evangelizes, it is his fantasy that every person in earshot hears the "call." You are correct, though, that many do not. However, each who hears does so in a different way. For some, God puts an impulse in the hear to seek Him out. Others get that impulse from what they are literally told, though they did not seek before. That is why some actively evangelize.

Still others do not get called even then. They should not be pursued (it is their choice). Perhaps there will yet be another day for them to hear.

I think of conversion as an actual act of religion, like a right of passage, when one changes from one religion to another.

I think of calling as that niggling feeling that doesn't leave you alone and draws you to the path that helps you understand. relate to and worship the Divine Spirit in the way that is best for you. When you give into it, you feel at peace and everything begins to fall into place in your head and in your life.

I felt that way when I became Wiccan... first I got the calling; it can only be described to feel like "coming home." The official conversion came later, after I realized that God/dess had led me to the path and I was ready to formerly, officially dedicate myself to it.

Well, I'm a Christian and God wants you to come to him. What I get out of the verse is: if you live your life according to Christ, then the Lord will allow you into Heaven, but if you rejected him, then you will not be apart of his flock. That's just my opinion.
