That is partly true. Generic and brand name could have the same contents as it is written yet I could say most of them have differences in the effectiveness. Not all medicines though but so far, I noticed the differences mostly in some antibiotics, analgesics, and most commonly used medicines. There may be a controversy on that but I can definitely differentiate for example the actions of two paracetamol - a brand vs generics. My sister was once sick and by taking generic paracetamol, there was no any effect, but by taking brand paracetamol, the effect was so fast. I noted the same difference in the effects in some hospital patients too. There are many factors to be considered to verify the that, I can tell however that individual personal variation is a big factor to consider. Some medicines works just the same either generic or brand. Anyway, the thought you have that Brand works better makes some sense.
The use of generic is highly encouraged as it would cost less but the quality of some brand really makes big difference.

As far as brand & generic medications there is the same MEDICATION, but the buffer ingriedients may be different. You have to realize that only a very small portion of the pill you take is the actuall medication, so other ingridients are added. These additives are called buffers because they typically help make the medication less costic to your system (remember that aspirin can cause ulcers).
So whether you take Tylenol, which is the BRAND name or you take the Acetaminophen which is the GENERIC name you are getting the SAME medication and the same ammount.
If anything you might be having reactions to the buffer ingriedients.

It's possible that generic versus brand name drugs would work differently for people because of the inactive ingredients they could be different, but if you find that you always seem to react better to the brand name, then it's most likely a placebo effect. In experiments, there are always people who have a positive response to a medication (for example, pain relief) based purely on belief, even if it is only a sugar pill. This is the placebo effect.

I think it may be in your mind. Brand name = better in a lot of peoples' heads. Of course, you may want to ask your doctor - there may be certain instances where the brand name is better.

its the same exact thing....it just takes 17 years until the generics come, giving time so that brand name can make money.....they have the same exact ingridients and work exactly the same.....they have to be tested to make sure they work exactly alike

What ever is cheapest. They're all the same to me, so why buy Tylenol over CVS?
