I know there is a certain amount you can make per year while on SSI, but not sure how much. Thanks.

I know for a fact you can get SSI for Bi-polar disorder.

First you would need to apply for SSI and be deemed eligible and disabled. Once on SSI I believe the most that you can receive is $623/month federal and then a state amount depending on what state you are in. If you decide to work, social security forgives $65 of your earnings and then counts $1 for every $2 that you earn over the $65. From that, they deduct the amount calculated ($1 for every $2) and subtract if from the $623 and that is the amount that you receive. The federal amount is adjusted yearly to reflect the cost of living increase. For more information go to www.ssa.gov and look under Supplemental Security Income. Hope this helps!

well I get SSI and it is $623. a month and during the summer I always work so it don't hurt my ssi when I go back to college. the SSI pay suck compared to what I make $400. a week average. so that is 1,600 a month after tax.
