What are some good schools for cosmetology?

I know that I want to go into the Cosmetology field, but I haven't figured out whether I'd rather be a hair stylist or make-up artist. What are your opinions? What is the demand for what field? What is the income? Can anybody reccomend a school?

okay this might be far away if you don't live in Wisconsin. the school of cosmetology in Appleton is great i get my hair done there.

Depends on where you live and your finances. If you are going to need financial aid go to your local community college or Concorde. If not then try Dudley Cosmetology University. (By going to cosmetology school you will learn make up as well, it will not be very indepth but you can figure out almost anything once you have the basics!)

Truth be told. You will learn the same basic things no matter where you go! It's the advance classes that teach you all the extra things! Take advntage of all the networking that you are exposed to while you are in school and please take advantage of any and all hair shows that come to your area!!Learn about all the products and be flexible. If you go to Aveda do not limit your self to only there products.

The Demand for this feild are ever changing. People are always willing to try you out if you look like you can do hair. The income is pretty good. I was working commision when I first got out of school. My checks were about 500 every 2 weeks (60/40) but my tips were 300 a week. Now I'm doing booth rent and I set my own prices and I make 1000 a week.

try a vocational school in your area, I have worked in both areas you mentioned and found more fulfillment doing hair,made more $ as well
