At night I wake up about 5 times because the hip that I am sleeping on is really sore. I usually just flip over to the other side but soon i wake up again only to find that my other hip is aching too. The pain is more inside my hip rather than on the out side. Im not over weight. What could be causing this?

Hi,
Just guessing here.
Probably your bed is too hard. So your hip is elevated and taking more weight than the other parts of your body.
You might be a bit dehydrated from the Air Conditioning, making your joints a bit drier and more sensitive(look up synovial membrane).
Also, you are getting older and might be getting a little arthritis.
Get a new bed...or buy a $90 feather bed topper.
Drink more water.
Buy Glucosamine/chondroitin Tablets from the local Vitamin/Chemist/Grocery store. They help your body rebuild cartilage in your joints, including your hip.

Hope this helps.

Hi:

I believe that it is your mattress. I have hip and pelvic problems and I ended up with a tempurpeadic mattress to relieve some of the pain, which it has.

Since the are expensive, I would suggest the foam topper. It is the same material as the tempurpeadic and only 3- 5 inches wide. It runs some where in the area of $50.00. To me $50.00 is worth it to possibly lessen your pain and also and also to know for sure if it is your mattress.

I know that if you end up getting one, don't get the Tempurpaedic, get the generic store brand one as it is $100's dollare less and it is the exact same thing.

Where as the pain is happening in both your hips chances are it is not arthritis, your are laying on a pressure point (your hip) against a possible mattress that is causing your problems. The pressure from your body onto another surface is great, but on a pressure point it is even greater. I would check it out.

Be safe and be well

Arthritis or a degenerative disease in the socket....an old injury....
Go have it checked out, the least you can do is get pain meds so you can sleep!

It sounds like it might be your mattress.

But a Chiropractic adjustment would probably help.
