open, whipped, and generally were humiliated, would you consider keeping an image of their dead body around your neck throughout your daily affairs?

Why or why not?

Your rather gruesome (but accurate) reference to the crucifix chrismon is quite relevant in religion today.

Though I hang a crucifix on my wall, the imagery we should embrace is the conquering of death; the forgiveness of sins, and life everlasting.

I'm with you on this. Christ overcame the cross and it's probably something dwelt on too much.

If someone you loved had laid down their life for you, in which they were beaten, poked, stabbed, sliced..
open, whipped, and generally were humiliated, would you consider keeping an image of their dead body around your neck throughout your daily affairs?

Why or why not?

No, I wouldn't. Our bodies are meant to be returned to the earth from which it was formed at death. Anyway, after awhile, I would think it would be a deterrent to ever getting many friends, if you wore it all the time, not to mention a constant reminder to you of what happened and therefore a potential source of emotional/mental discomfort.

I believe you are referring to more then just "someone" Our God is not just someone.

I wear a cross around my neck from time to time, not just because "it's pretty" but to remind me of what the Lord gave up for us to pay for our sins, so that we may have a chance at ever lasting life.
I wear a cross to bring me closer to the Lord when I'm feeling distant and need to renew my personal relationship with him.
In a way its symbolic to me, I'm putting my burdens on that cross around my neck and giving them all over to the Lord.

In my own way I guess I feel I am honoring the Lord by wearing my cross. As I'm putting my faith in him to help me through troubled times weather they may be physical, emotional or spiritual.

For me its a duel purpose in that sense.

As for would I wear that "someone" around my neck?

The best way to honor or remember someone, anyone our Lord most of all, is to be a good person and follow in their steps by continuing to do they good they did, and spreading the joy and love they had for others, to all of those around you.

Most people I love will not go down in history as christ did. Besides that's a Catholic thing, Prodastants usually use just a cross.

1Corinthians 1:18-20
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God,
it pleased God by the follishness of preaching to save them that believe.

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For you see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called; But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are might; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are; That no flesh should glory in his presence. but of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption; that, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
