I've looked it up and there seems to be no right answer. I'm so confused.

I can't find any exact answer to this. I do know for sure that they're not herpes. Cold sores are herpes, not canker sores. So please no more herpes answers. Thank you.

Oh... please ignore my typo. Yahoo! won't let me change the question. Thanks.

It's when your food or possibly your teeth penetrate your skin, and some food or bacteria gets in the cut and causes a sore. It usually happens to people who don't brush their teeth, or people with sharp teeth and braces.

Because your body is tired and stressed from not sleeping. Even if you don't feel tired, your body can be. Canker sores can be brought on by stress. Everytime I get stressed out, eat a lot of tomatoes, or have a tummy ache I get canker sore. The best thing for them is called "kanka". It is like $5.00 at the drugstore. It freezes them and numbs them so they can heal really fast. Just make sure you aren't kissing anyone with them in your mouth, they are contagious. It is a the same type of herpes virus as a cold sore.

It is caused by a relative of the genital Herpes...a virus that lives in your body forever. They usually appear in times of stress.
